Friday Player Prop Best Bets

Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Friday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.

Onyeka Okongwu Over 13.5 Points (+100) vs. Cavaliers

Cavaliers at Hawks – 7:30 pm ET

Okongwu comes into this game after having scored at least 15 points in seven straight contests. The big man has also had at least 20 points in six of the last seven. Okongwu’s improved 3-ball has turned him into a dangerous weapon for this Atlanta team. He’s shooting 41.4% on 4.8 attempts per game, and he’s up at 42.4% on 5.5 attempts per game in November.

Tonight, Okongwu should get some quality looks. Cleveland isn’t a bad defensive team, but the group is 27th in the NBA defending spot-up opportunities. That bodes well for Okongwu to continue to show out as a stretch big, plus we should see him finish a couple of plays at the rim.

The only worry with Okongwu is that Kristaps Porzingis is now healthy, cutting into the big man’s playing time. However, Okongwu has had at least 15 points in the last three games Porzingis has played. He’s capable of hitting this mark in 20 to 25 minutes, which he should see this evening.

Collin Gillespie Over 12.5 Points (-105) vs. Thunder

Suns at Thunder – 9:30 pm ET

Facing the Thunder isn’t ideal for a smaller guard, but Gillespie is fearless. That’s why I’m fine with rolling the dice on him finishing with 13 or more points tonight. Gillespie, who started against the Kings last game, has scored at least 15 points in six straight games. He also had 21 points in the start against Sacramento, and he has scored at least 19 points in three of the last six.

Oklahoma City has a lot of length and toughness on the perimeter, which could throw Gillespie off as a driver. However, the 26-year-old is shooting 41.3% on 6.4 attempts per game from deep. He’s going to get a ton of shots up — especially with Grayson Allen and Jalen Green out. I’m betting on the volume and shot-making here.

Devin Vassell Over 15.5 Points (-113) vs. Nuggets

Spurs at Nuggets – 9:30 pm ET

Vassell is averaging 20.0 points per game over the last two contests, stepping up with Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle out for San Antonio. Well, Vassell should be able to do it again tonight. He’s going up against a Denver team that will be without Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun. Those are two of the best perimeter defenders the Nuggets have to offer, and both would normally spend some time defending Vassell’s spot.

It just isn’t hard to imagine a scenario in which Vassell knocks down some triples, and he should also get his mid-range game going. Denver is one of the worst teams in the league when it comes to defending that part of the court.
