Monday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Monday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
Egor Demin Over 5.5 Assists (+120) vs. Hornets
Hornets at Nets – 7:30 pm ET
Demin has only had one game with more than five assists this season, but I think the chances of him finishing with six are higher than 50% tonight. Over the last three games, the talented rookie is averaging 13.3 potential assists and 6.0 adjusted assists per game. He’s doing an awesome job of setting teammates up with quality looks, but he has been a little unlucky in the box score. That luck could turn tonight.
Charlotte is just 26th in the NBA in adjusted defensive rating (118.4) this year, and the team is also a bottom-five group when it comes to defending above-the-break 3s and shots at the rim. That said, the Nets should get some better looks here than they normally do, which bodes well for Demin as a playmaker.
Davion Mitchell Over 6.5 Assists (-122) vs. Clippers
Clippers at Heat – 7:30 pm ET
Mitchell had nine assists against the Clippers back on November 3. That was a game the point guard played without Tyler Herro, but Miami’s star shooting guard is back and playing like he never left. That said, Mitchell’s job as a passer has gotten a little easier. In fact, over the last three games, Mitchell has had at least nine assists three times. He’s also averaging 15.5 potential assists and 12.0 adjusted assists per game in that span.
As long as Mitchell keeps making good reads, he should continue to put up big numbers in the assists column. And tonight, he’s facing a Los Angeles team that is just 24th in the NBA in adjusted defensive rating (116.9).
The only real concern here is that the Clippers play at the third-slowest pace (97.4) in basketball. However, the Heat really should get them to speed up a little, as Miami is first in the NBA in pace (106.4) and the team’s culture is a little stronger. The better team normally wins out in the style battle.
