Cooper Flagg Over 16.5 Points (-127) vs. Heat
Heat at Mavericks – 8:30 pm ET
Flagg has looked much more comfortable as a scorer recently. The talented rookie followed up his 35-point performance against the Clippers with 24 against the Nuggets on Monday. He has now taken 41 shots over the last two games, and that type of aggression should mean better days ahead.
Flagg hasn’t exactly been lighting opponents up from 3 — he’s at 25.6% on 3.7 attempts per game — but he’s cooking with the mid-range jumper. He’s also doing a good job of attacking the basket, either finishing at the cup or getting to the charity stripe.
Tonight, Flagg will have to go to work against some tough wing defenders. The Heat are fourth in the NBA in adjusted defensive rating (112.0) this season, and they’re going to make things difficult on Flagg. However, Miami also plays at the fastest pace (106.5) in the NBA, by far. The Mavericks also happen to be sixth in the league in pace (102.4). That said, while Flagg might have a tough time matching the efficiency he has posted in recent games, I think he goes Over on volume. More possessions means more opportunities to score.
