Noteworthy OptaAI Player Prop Edges for Wednesday
Below you’ll find some of the projections that stood out when looking at our OptaAI NBA Player Prop projections. Subscribers have access to hundreds of others on a daily basis!
LaMelo Ball Over 7.5 Assists (-143) vs. Pacers
Hornets at Pacers – 7:00 pm ET
The OptaAI player prop projections have Ball finishing with 9.26 assists against the Pacers tonight. This is a meeting between two bad defensive teams, and both squads will look to play at a fast pace. That should allow Ball to play his game, which could mean a lot of assists.
Rudy Gobert Under 10.5 Rebounds (+100) vs. Wizards
Wizards at Timberwolves – 8:00 pm ET
Gobert has had fewer than 10 boards in each of the last three games, bringing his average down to 9.6 rebounds per game on the season. Part of that has to do with the fact that the Timberwolves have been blowing opponents out. However, there’s a chance tonight turns into another blowout, as Minnesota is a massive favorite over Washington. And the OptaAI projections might have that factored in, calling for Gobert to finish with only 9.09 boards this evening.
Karl-Anthony Towns Under 26.5 Points (-118) vs. Mavericks
Knicks at Mavericks – 9:30 pm ET
The OptaAI player prop projections have Towns finishing with 20.91 points tonight. That’s a pretty significant edge to the Under on his total of 26.5. There’s a chance Jalen Brunson will be out tonight, meaning Towns could have a huge role. That adds some risk. However, the Mavericks have a top-five defense in the league.
Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
Reed Sheppard Over 11.5 Points (-122) vs. Cavaliers
Rockets at Cavaliers – 7:00 pm ET
It’s going to be hard to turn down Sheppard’s points props as long as they’re between 10.5 and 12.5. Sheppard comes into this one after having scored at least 12 points in six consecutive games. He has also scored at least 15 points in four of the last six. Sheppard is now averaging 12.6 points per game, shooting 49.1% from the floor and 47.8% from 3. He has been awesome off the bench for the Rockets, providing some of the fearless shooting that Fred VanVleet gave them.
Tonight, Sheppard faces a Cavaliers team that is 27th in the NBA when defending spot-up jumpers. That said, Sheppard should have some good looks at the rim. Plus, if Cleveland’s guards run him off the line, he’s plenty capable of stepping in and knocking down his pull-up jumper.
Immanuel Quickley Over 15.5 Points (-124) vs. 76ers
Raptors at Sixers – 7:00 pm ET
Quickley is averaging just 13.5 points per game over the last two contests, but this feels like a good bounce-back spot for him. Quickely had scored at least 18 points in four straight before this mini two-game slump, and one of those performances saw him score 22 against this same Philadelphia team.
The Sixers just struggle to defend potent on-ball scorers, as they’re a bottom-five defense when defending PnR ball handlers and guarding in transition. I think Quickley can take advantage of that with his off-the-dribble shooting and quick-twitch moves to get to his floater.
Philly will be missing two key defenders tonight, with Kelly Oubre Jr. out and Joel Embiid doubtful. Neither one of them would be defending Quickley, but there could be a snowball effect of them being out.
Klay Thompson Over 10.5 Points (-105) & Alt Points 15+ (+300 – 0.25 units) vs. Knicks
Knicks at Mavericks – 9:30 pm ET
There’s a chance Thompson gets some very clean looks at the rim tonight. The Knicks are giving up more made 3s per game (15.4) than anybody outside of the Jazz this season, and opponents are shooting 39.4% from deep against them. The Knicks are also a bottom-10 defense when it comes to defending both corners, and they’re 24th defending above-the-break 3s. Well, that’s where Thompson lives these days.
Of course, Thompson is only shooting 31.1% from deep this season. It doesn’t take an expert to see that he’s no longer the shooter he once was. But if Thompson has time to set his feet, he’s still dangerous. And he had scored at least 13 points in three straight games before scoring only seven against the Timberwolves last game. I think he’ll turn in another solid offensive performance tonight.
