Noteworthy OptaAI Player Prop Edges for Wednesday
Below you’ll find some of the projections that stood out when looking at our OptaAI NBA Player Prop projections. Subscribers have access to hundreds of others on a daily basis!
Jarace Walker Over 3.5 Assists (-138) vs. Nets
Nets at Pacers – 7:00 pm ET
Our OptaAI player prop projections have Walker finishing with 5.62 assists tonight. The forward is averaging 12.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game this season, and he comes into this game after having recorded at least five assists in three of the last four games. Walker also happens to be going up against a Nets team that is last in the NBA in raw defensive rating (128.5), and he’ll be doing it with a handful of key rotation pieces out for the Pacers. I’m actually going to play this one myself, so you’ll see it on the Pro Picks page.
Santi Aldama Over 5.5 Rebounds (-114) vs. Rockets
Rockets at Grizzlies – 8:00 pm ET
Aldama is averaging 7.1 rebounds per game for the Grizzlies this season. Our OptaAI projections like him to exceed that number against the Rockets, projecting him to finish with 7.47 boards. That’s a pretty big edge to the Over on his total of 5.5, though it’s worth noting that Houston has one of the biggest rotations in basketball.
Jonathan Kuminga Under 21.5 Points (-106) vs. Kings
Warriors at Kings – 10:00 pm ET
With the Warriors coming off a win over the Suns on Tuesday, you can expect to see some of Golden State’s older players out of action this evening. That should mean an expanded role for Kuminga, who is averaging 16.4 points per game this season. Our projections have Kuminga finishing with only 16.40 points in this one, so that’s right on the season average. However, tailing the projections here could be a little risky with Kuminga likely to serve as the top offensive option.
Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
Isaiah Jackson Over 9.5 Points (-116) vs. Nets
Nets at Pacers – 7:00 pm ET
Jackson just had 21 points and 10 boards in a close loss against the Bucks, marking the second game in a row in which he has reached double figures. Jackson is only averaging 7.9 points per game in 17.7 minutes per game this season, but he has played an average of 25.6 minutes per game over the last three contests. Perhaps he’s starting to feel better and better as he gets further removed from last year’s torn Achilles, and it doesn’t hurt his box score production that the Pacers are down a ton of bodies.
Tonight, it isn’t hard to envision a scenario in which Jackson feasts as a play-finisher against a miserable Brooklyn defense. Indiana will have him as the screener in pick-and-roll actions, and Jackson will also make things happen on his own by beating his man down the floor or doing good work on the offensive glass. Our prop projections also back this one up, calling for Jackson to have 13.90 points.
Alperen Sengun Over 0.5 Made 3s (-139) vs. Grizzlies
Rockets at Grizzlies – 8:00 pm ET
Sengun has made at least one 3 in four of the six games he has played this season. He has also attempted at least two 3s in every single game this year. As long as Sengun is looking to knock down triples, it’s hard to pass on him to make one at -139 odds. Of course, it’d be nice if Sengun’s volume was a bit higher, and he has had games this year in which he has been a little more trigger-happy. But even at his current attempts, I’m willing to take a shot on him making one against Memphis tonight. The Grizzlies are just 23rd in the NBA in raw defensive rating (116.6). Also, opponents are shooting 37.8% from 3 against them, which is the sixth-worst mark in basketball. Sengun, who is now looking like a legitimate pick-and-pop option, should take advantage.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. Over 19.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115) vs. Nuggets
Heat at Nuggets – 9:00 pm ET
Jaquez Jr. struggled a bit in Miami’s win over Los Angeles on Monday, going 3 for 9 from the floor and 0 for 2 from deep. However, the third-year wing is having an excellent season for the Heat, averaging 16.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. After a bad sophomore season, Jaquez looks like a better player than he was as a rookie, serving as the anchor of a good Miami bench unit. And tonight, our projections have him finishing with 24.12 points, rebounds, and assists against Denver.
The Nuggets are obviously a very good team, but this game has the highest total on the board. There will be some big stat lines to go around, making it hard to imagine Jaquez not getting his. The only thing to really worry about here is that Jaquez played only 26 minutes in Norman Powell’s return to action on Monday. However, Jaquez had played fewer than 30 minutes in three games before that Clippers game. He finished with at least 27 combined points, rebounds, and assists in all of them.
