Player props have become one of the NBA’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value beyond the standard spread or total. Each night, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board using matchup data, recent performances, and betting trends to find edges. Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
AJ Dybantsa Over 17.5 Points (-108) vs. Hawks
Hawks at Wizards – 7:00 pm ET
Dybantsa is averaging 19.0 points per game since returning from injury, and he has scored at least 19 in two of the three games he has played. It’s pretty clear that his scoring translates extremely well to the NBA game, and he should enjoy this matchup with the Hawks.
Atlanta can be a very tough team defensively, but the group ranks 30th in the NBA in defending at the rim right now. The Hawks are also 25th in defending inside 10 feet, where Dybantsa takes 65% of his shots. This just feels like a game in which Dybantsa’s size and athleticism will allow him to thrive in transition, and he should also do some good work as a cutter. Adding that to what he already does well as an isolation scorer should allow him to reach 18 points rather quickly in this one.
There’s also a chance Alex Sarr misses this game, as he’s listed as questionable for Washington. If he is out, look for Dybantsa to play even better with some chances to run as a small-ball four. Sarr didn’t play against the Magic on Monday, and that helped Dybantsa score a career-high 21 points.
Jalen Brunson Over 6.5 First Quarter Points (-115) vs. Bulls
Bulls at Knicks – 7:30 pm ET
I like this matchup for Brunson, as the Bulls are one of the worst teams in the NBA defensively (29th in DRTG) and struggle to guard perimeter players. However, with New York being a heavy favorite, I’m a little nervous we won’t see much of Brunson in the fourth quarter. So, rather than play Brunson to go Over his point total for the game, I’m taking him to go Over 6.5 in the first quarter.
Brunson just had 11 in the opening 12 minutes against Chicago on October 28, and he has now scored at least eight points in the first quarter in three of his last four games. With a matchup this perfect, I expect he’ll start off hot.
Derik Queen Over 2.5 Assists (+100 – 1.5 units) & Alt Assists 4+ (+241 – 0.5 units) & Alt Assists 5+ (+545 – 0.25 units) & Alt Assists 6+ (+1160 – 0.1 units) & Alt Assists 7+ (21-1 – 0.1 units) vs. Jazz
Jazz at Pelicans – 8:00 pm ET
Queen comes into this game having recorded at least three assists in three consecutive games. Two games ago, Queen had four against the Hawks. Then, the second-year big man had five against the Grizzlies on Monday. With Queen playing a bit harder defensively, it feels like Jamahl Mosley is starting to trust him more and more. Well, let’s see if he flirts with 30 minutes tonight.
Queen hasn’t yet touched the 30-minute mark this season, but the Jazz have the league’s worst center rotation. Mosley should be able to give his team an edge by allowing Queen to cook this evening, and the big man would be doing it against a team that ranks 24th in the NBA in raw defensive rating (115.7). With his ability to set up teammates, I can see him turning in a great game as a passer.
This play does carry more risk than most of the ones I give out, as you never know when Queen will be yanked. But we’ve been doing alright lately, so I’m good with being aggressive with a high-upside opportunity. For what it’s worth, OptaAI has Queen finishing with 3.63 assists.
