Here are our favorite NBA prop bets for Tuesday, April 25:
Atlanta Hawks at Boston Celtics (-13, 229.5) – Game 5
The last two games in this series have been extremely competitive, but we’ll unfortunately see Atlanta playing without Dejounte Murray with its season on the line. The Hawks guard bumped an official after his team’s Game 4 loss, so he is suspended for this win-or-go-home game for Atlanta. However, the bright side of that is that it opens up an opportunity on the player props market. So, we’re taking Trae Young to score at least 28 points in Game 5.
Young has had an up-and-down season for the Hawks, and this series hasn’t been any different. However, the star point guard has found a way to attack this Celtics defense in recent games, as he’s averaging 33.5 points per game over the last two. Of course, Young might not shoot as well on the road as he did at home, but he should make up for that in volume. With Murray out, there are more shots to go around in this offense, and Young should be the main beneficiary there.
Bet: Young Over 27.5 Points (-125)
Minnesota Timberwolves at Denver Nuggets (-10, 220) – Game 5
Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves have their work cut out for them in Game 5, but one thing you can count on is that the 21-year-old is going to give it everything he has out there. Edwards has been playing his tail off over the last three games, and he’s averaging 37.0 points per game in that span. With that in mind, Edwards really should score at least 29 in Game 5.
The Nuggets just haven’t had any answers for Edwards in this series. The young wing is getting downhill and attacking the basket at a high level, while also burying shots from deep. Even if Minnesota ends up losing this game, it’s very difficult to see that changing. He’s an elite scorer of the basketball and the Nuggets have too many exploitable defensive players for him to go after.
Bet: Edwards Over 28.5 Points (-115)
Los Angeles Clippers at Phoenix Suns (-12.5, 224) – Game 5
Ivica Zubac scored 12 points in 30 minutes of action in Game 1, and he then scored eight points in 29 minutes in Game 2. However, Zubac is averaging only 5.0 points per game in 23.0 minutes per game over the last two games in this series. With Kawhi Leonard and Paul George out, the Clippers have decided to go small against the Suns, and it’s hard to imagine them ditching that plan here.
With Zubac’s minutes down, it just makes a lot of sense to bet him to score fewer than 10 points tonight. The reality is that this bet can hit even if he does play his usual minutes. This is a guy that averaged only 10.8 points per game during the regular season, so it’s not like he’s some dynamic scorer.
Bet: Zubac Under 9.5 Points (-125)
