We’re nearing the end of the 2024-25 NBA season. I’ll continue giving out NBA best bets and player props here as often as possible, and I’ll also occasionally write up features on big news that shakes up the league. So, make sure you check out my work throughout the season. With that out of the way, let’s get into some NBA best bets and NBA player props for Wednesday, April 2nd. Also, make sure you check out the picks page (linked right below) before games tip off. I occasionally add picks throughout the day.

NBA Best Bets Today – April 2nd

Atlanta Hawks at Dallas Mavericks – 8:30 pm ET

The Mavericks are coming off a bad four-point loss to the Nets on Monday, but they have mostly played good basketball with Anthony Davis in the lineup. Dallas is 4-1 in the five games the big man has played, and the roster isn’t awful when he plays. Obviously, losing Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum means they’re missing quite a bit at the point guard spot, but they do have some solid pieces surrounding Davis right now. P.J. Washington, Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, Max Christie and Caleb Martin have all proven their worth in NBA rotations. That said, the Mavericks really should be able to win the games they’re expected to win. So, while Monday night was a bit disappointing, I like Dallas to get back on track with a cover against Atlanta.

The Hawks are coming off a loss to the Blazers last night, making this the second night of a back-to-back. Atlanta has also lost three of its last four games, so the team isn’t exactly playing well right now. The Mavericks also have plenty of wings that can slow down some of the Hawks’ perimeter options. Dallas just needs to do a decent job of containing Trae Young. That’s obviously not a given. He’s one of the game’s most electric offensive players. But he shouldn’t be able to go into Dallas and lead the Hawks to a road win in a bad rest spot. Atlanta is 14-20 straight-up and 14-19-1 against the spread on the second leg of a back-to-back under Quin Snyder.

Bet: Mavericks -3.5 (-108 – 1.5 units)

NBA Player Props Today – April 2nd

Sacramento Kings at Washington Wizards – 7:00 pm ET

Our VSiN NBA Prop Bet Analyzer shows that Alexandre Sarr has gone Over his PRA total in 10 of his last 15 starts. Of course, two of the Unders have come in the last two games, so this isn’t one that can just be tailed blindly. But Sarr really should be able to do some good work against a Kings team that is just 21st in the NBA in adjusted defensive rating (115.2). Considering the Wizards are 28th in adjusted defensive rating (117.9) and fourth in pace of play (102.2), there’s not much preventing this from being an up-and-down game. Well, if that’s the case, Sarr should take advantage of a Sacramento team that doesn’t have healthy bigs — or ones that can really defend. Before these recent back-to-back duds, Sarr averaged 23.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in games against the Sixers and Pacers on March 26th and March 27th. He has shown that he can do quite a bit in the right matchups.

Bet: Sarr Over 25.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110)

New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers – 7:00 pm ET

OG Anunoby has done a bulk of the heavy lifting with Jalen Brunson dealing with an ankle injury. The 27-year-old has scored at least 23 points in seven consecutive games, and he’s a huge part of the reason New York has won — and covered — five of its last six contests. Well, Anunoby has a tough matchup with Cleveland tonight, but it’s one in which he should still be able to impact the game as a scorer. The Cavaliers did well to bring De’Andre Hunter in at the trade deadline, but this is still a team that can occasionally struggle to cover wings. So, with Anunoby averaging 17.8 shots per game over the last seven games — and thriving as both a shooter and a driver — I’m firing him up to score at least 21 tonight.

Bet: Anunoby Over 20.5 Points (+100 – 1.5 units)
