I only have a few picks for the light NBA slate on Monday, February 2. Normally I break things down with two separate articles, but it doesn’t feel necessary today. So, instead of splitting sides/totals and player props into two pieces, I’m bringing everything under one roof — a streamlined look at my favorite bets for the day’s slate. Keep reading for my NBA picks and predictions for Monday.

NBA Best Bets Today (Sides/Totals)

Pacers +7.5 (-126 – 1.5 units) & Pacers ML (+205 – 0.5 units) vs. Rockets

Rockets at Pacers – 7:00 pm ET

The Rockets will be without Kevin Durant tonight, which should mean the Pacers will have a good shot at winning yet another home game. Without Durant, it’s going to be hard for this Houston team to score. The Rockets are just going to pepper Alperen Sengun with touches, but who will step up and help him? Reed Sheppard is a candidate to do so, but the Pacers have a strong defensive backcourt. Indiana could also torch Sheppard on the other end of the floor. That might seem a little crazy to say about a team that is 13-36, but the Pacers are much better than their record.

Indiana is actually 5-1 with a +4.8 net rating in its last six home games, and the team is just looking rather solid now that the injury report is clearing up. The Rockets are also 24-29 against the spread when playing eight or more games in a span of 14 days under Ime Udoka. They have played a lot of basketball lately, and they haven’t been too reliable when playing tired under Udoka. Meanwhile, the Pacers are playing only their second game in five days, and they’re 57-52 straight-up and 66-42-1 ATS under Rick Carlisle in that situation.

Rudy Gobert To Record Double-Double (+105) vs. Grizzlies

Timberwolves at Grizzlies – 7:30 pm ET

In two meetings with Memphis this season, Gobert is averaging 12.5 points and 16.0 rebounds per game. The big man had 16 rebounds in both contests, while scoring 16 points in the first and nine points in the second. Well, I’m hoping for a game a little more like the first one, as I’m playing Gobert to record a double-double at plus-money odds. I just don’t see much keeping Gobert from dominating the boards against a Grizzlies team that is missing Zach Edey — and could be missing Jaren Jackson Jr. We just have to hope the Wolves guards can feed him the rock, or that he has a bunch of putbacks. Gobert isn’t the greatest offensive player in the world, but he’s averaging 10.8 points per game this year. Reaching double digits happens more often than not.
