DraftKings announced on Tuesday morning the acquisition of VSiN.

“We created VSiN as a destination for sports bettors to find the most credible content to help inform their wagering decisions,” said Brian Musburger, VSiN’s CEO. “Harnessing the power and network of the DraftKings brand will allow us to reach an even wider audience with our unique content.”

VSiN produces and distributes as much as 18 hours of live linear sports betting content each day, broadcasting from its headquarters in Las Vegas as well as from Atlantic City, Detroit, Chicago and Denver. In addition to its 24/7 stream on VSiN.com and the VSiN app, VSiN’s original content is accessible through multiple video and audio channels, including Comcast Xfinity, Rogers’ Sportsnet, MSG Networks, NESN, Marquee Sports Network and a dedicated channel on iHeartRadio and TuneIn. In addition, VSiN can be heard on terrestrial radio stations throughout the country, and its growing slate of podcasts and betcasts.

“VSiN creates authentic and credible content that resonates with sports bettors at every level, whether they’re experienced or new to sports betting,” said Jason Robins, DraftKings’ co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board.

VSiN will maintain editorial independence, while DraftKings plans to fully integrate VSiN’s current employee base into its 2,600-person global workforce.

"While VSiN will become a part of DraftKings, the intention of both parties is to maintain our editorial independence and a Las Vegas employee base and infrastructure, which includes continuing broadcasts from the Circa and South Point," Musburger said.

The acquisition will enable DraftKings (live with mobile and/or retail sports betting in 14 states) to further build out its content capabilities and will augment VSiN’s ability to broaden their audience alongside the expansion of legal sports betting in the U.S.

“In addition to its brand equity among sports bettors and engaging talent roster, VSiN also has an established infrastructure that DraftKings can immediately help expand, in the hopes of adding value to consumers who are looking to become more knowledgeable about sports betting,” Robins said.

"One of the things that we’ve done so well is create content, but where there’s a lot of room for us to grow is having more people learn about the content we’re creating," Musburger added Tuesday morning on VSiN's Follow The Money. "And nobody has done a better job of marketing than the team at DraftKings."

Sports betting was legalized nationwide in the United States after a Supreme Court ruling in May 2018 and has rapidly expanded since the decision. There are currently 21 states (plus Washington DC) in which sports betting is legal and operational. In January 2021, six states took in over $300 million in sports betting wagers with New Jersey leading all states with $958.7 million in handle.
