Circa Survivor 2024

There are 272 games in the NFL season. Through Week 3, 48 of those games have been played. That is just over 17.6% of the season.

In Circa Survivor for the 2024 season, there were 14,266 entries, setting an all-time record for the contest, which started back in 2020. There are 642 entries left after Week 3, meaning that greater than 95% of the field has been eliminated. There are 4.5% of entries still left standing as we enter Week 4.

As the official Circa Sports account posted on X on Monday night following the Cincinnati’s loss to Washington, there were 1,390 entries in 2020, the first year of the contest, and 675 survived Week 3.

There would be 35 entries that made it all the way through the 18 weeks of the season, back before Circa separated Christmas into its own week.

How many will we have in 2024?

NFL Year of the Upset

Evan Abrams of The Action Network had a really interesting tweet on Sunday night regarding underdogs and how well they’ve done this season.

Those three underdogs – the Patriots, Raiders, and Commanders – have been responsible for knocking out 8,187 of the 14,266 entries, or 57.4%. The Bengals (Week 1 and Week 3) and the Ravens (Week 2) were the most picked teams in each of the three weeks of the season to date. They’ve all gone down in historic fashion.

In Week 3, the first, second, third, and fourth-most popular picks all lost (Bengals, Browns, Buccaneers, Raiders).

In Week 2, the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth all lost (Ravens, Lions, Eagles, Jaguars, Cowboys, Colts) as the Texans and Chargers ranked second and third, respectively, and managed their affairs correctly.

In Week 1, the Bengals wiped out nearly 35% of the field on their own. The Falcons (431) were the only other really big loser.

The 0-3 Bengals have wiped out over 41% of the field on their own and nobody took them in Week 2 against the Chiefs.

NFL Survivor Going Forward

At some point, you would expect things to normalize and favorites to get back to their winning ways. With only 642 entries left and only 482 of the 4,181 players remaining, each $1,000 investment now has an implied value of $22,221. Shout-out to NFL WISEGUYS, who has eight entries remaining. All of them were on the Jets in Week 3. There are only five entrants with at least five Survivor entries left in play.

For those who still have them available, the Jets and 49ers will be this week’s most popular selections as the biggest favorites, but every favorite feels scary at this time of the season.
