How To Watch Packers vs. Raiders

Channel: ESPN
Packers vs. Raiders Spread
This game isn’t going to have the same buzz as the Sunday night meeting between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, but bettors should enjoy any opportunity to watch football and potentially make some money. And in looking at this game, there are quite a few ways to do that. When looking at the spread, the best way to go might be backing the home team.
The Raiders haven’t been very good against the pass this season, but they might not need to be here. This season, Jordan Love has the second worst CPOE (Completion Percentage Over Expectation) in the league. Now, a lot of that comes with his inability to make plays under duress. But overall, the first-year starter just hasn’t been very accurate. So, I think there’s a decent shot the Raiders win the battle at the quarterback position, especially with Jimmy Garoppolo cleared to return from the concussion that kept him out of last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. That’s important in a game that I think will be higher scoring than expected.
The real reason to back the Raiders is that the Packers rushing defense is just a disaster right now. Last week, David Montgomery rushed for 121 yards and three scores against Green Bay. And when it was rookie Jahmyr Gibbs’ turn to get touches, he was also effective. That said, I think Las Vegas is going to run all over Green Bay in this game. Josh Jacobs hasn’t looked like his 2022 self just yet, but this is the perfect opportunity for him to break out.
Also, while the Josh McDaniels era hasn’t been all that impressive in Las Vegas, the Raiders are 3-1 straight-up and against the spread as home favorites of 3 or fewer points under him.
Packers vs. Raiders Total
The Over has hit in three of the four games that the Packers have played, while the Under has hit in three of the four games that the Raiders have played. So, something is going to have to give in this one. But I ultimately think we’ll end up seeing something of a high-scoring game in this Monday Night Football matchup.
While neither one of these teams possesses a potent offense, both teams are towards the bottom of the league in Defensive DVOA. That makes it hard not to like the offenses to figure it out here, especially with some extra time to prepare. In Green Bay’s case that’s an extra four days, as the team played in the Thursday Night Football game in Week 4. But Las Vegas also had an extra day with this one being on Monday night.
The Over also happens to be 10-8 in Raiders home games over the last three seasons.

Josh Jacobs Over 72.5 Rushing Yards
The Packers had extra time to get their defense ready for this game, but I’m not sure it’s going to make that big of a difference. Green Bay just can’t seem to stop the run this year, with the team being 25th in the league in Defensive DVOA against the rush. And last week, the Lions rushed for a total of 211 yards against the Packers. With that in mind, I think we’re going to get a breakout performance out of Jacobs, who is finally starting to look a little more like himself. He had 139 total yards in last week’s loss to the Chargers and he should find some holes here.
Packers vs. Raiders Prediction
I know the Packers had the extra days of rest and preparation for this one, but I just think the Raiders need this home victory. And I’m not sold on Green Bay being able to fix its issues stopping the run in such a short period of time. So, Jacobs should be able to pick up chunk yardage in this game. And he’ll also wear them out by the end of the game. On top of that, I don’t think the Packers can keep Love upright. So, I’m leaning towards backing the home team.
Lean: Raiders -2.5
