NFL Lookahead Lines:

I hope you were able to grab Denver -4 vs. Carolina when I wrote about that game a week ago. The Broncos are currently -9, and the Panthers are getting worse by the day. However, I hesitated to bet Pittsburgh -3.5 hosting the Giants on Monday night. Russell Wilson was too much of an unknown to me before the Jets game. Well, he cooked like a champ on a Food Network show, and the Steelers moved to -6.5 as a result.

DeAndre Hopkins was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs the morning of this post, so the next two weeks before the trade deadline, numbers could move quite a bit. Exhibit A: the Rams are playing at Seattle in Week 9. The Seahawks are currently listed as a 3-point favorite. According to reports this week, LA called several teams to gauge interest in wide receiver Cooper Kupp. He has missed several games already this year, but that could be a sign that the team is ready to mail it in for the rest of the season. The team is also ranked 28th in defensive DVOA (24th vs. the pass/26th vs. the rush). They’re 32nd in DVOA vs. tight ends and 30th vs. running backs. Seattle QB Geno Smith leads the league in passing yards and is eighth in total EPA for the position. Seattle is worth a look.

The Bears (-1) look good at Arizona. Caleb Williams should have a nice day in Week 8 vs. the Commanders defense. Chicago’s defense is also legit. Will Marcus Mariota look good again if he starts in this game? The Cardinals have a short week this week, and there is a chance Miami’s offense is clicking with Tua Tagovailoa back at QB. A scenario exists where this number can climb by Sunday night.

Other than that, I’m finding next week to be tricky. I lean Under 48 in the Miami/Buffalo game. I want to make the case for Tennessee -3 vs. New England, but the Titans are huge dogs this week at Detroit. I don’t think the number moves if they get blown out. The Saints/Panthers game is a total mess. Give me Washington if Jayden Daniels is healthy. But will he be by next week? Originally, the Chargers would’ve been a bet, but Jameis Winston can only be an upgrade for Cleveland.
