Which will be Greater: Total Touchdowns Scored by KC Chiefs (+140) in Super Bowl LIX or Total Goals Scored by Tampa Bay Lightning (+100) (on 2/9 vs. Montreal Canadiens)?

This is my favorite of the NHL/NFL Cross Props for Super Bowl Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs have scored three or more touchdowns in 11 of their 18 games this season (61%) and four or more touchdowns just four times this season (22%). They are up against a Philadelphia Eagles team that was tied for sixth overall in the NFL, giving up the sixth-fewest touchdowns in the regular season. The Eagles surrendered three or more touchdowns just five times this season and four or more touchdowns just twice.

The Tampa Bay Lightning own the NHL’s third-best offense, averaging 3.49 goals per game. The Lightning have scored three or more goals 37 times this season (88% of their games) and four or more goals 26 times (68% of their games).  When you examine their head-to-head numbers with Montreal Canadiens, the Bolts have scored four or more goals in nine of their last 12 meetings against Montreal and eight of the last nine times they played in Tampa.

Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning Goals Scored`+100

Which will be Greater: Total Field Goals Made (+120) in Super Bowl LIX or Total Shots on Goal by Alexander Ovechkin (+120) (on 2/9 vs. Utah Hockey Club)?

I am in the camp where Alexander Ovechkin will have more shots on goal than combined field goals in the Super Bowl. This is the final game for “Great 8” before the NHL pauses for the 4 Nations Face-Off (Feb 12-20), so I anticipate Ovechkin to be firing away at the Utah net all game as he continues his pursuit of Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal record. He is currently 16 goals shy of breaking the record (894). This will be the first time that Utah HC and Washington are meeting since Alexander Ovechkin suffered a broken leg in a collision with Utah’s Jack McBain. Ovechkin has been held to three shots or less in each of the last three games. Prior to that, he had seven, four and seven shots on goal, respectively. Ovi has registered four or more shots on goal in 17 of his 38 games this season. I am banking on the fact that the Chiefs and Eagles are not going to be interested in trading touchdowns for field goals. I believe it’s realistic that we could see three combined field goals but not four.

Pick: Alexander Ovechkin Total Shots on Goal +120
