Week 11 Browns-Bills game moved to Detroit: What does that mean for my bets?

236

With Buffalo currently experiencing “Snowvember”, the Week 11 game between the Browns and Bills has been moved to 4:15 p.m. ET in Detroit on Sunday. There is a huge difference between Ford Field and outdoor Highmark Stadium, so all of the under bets that came in early in the week are now in question.

Each sportsbook has its own House Rules that it will follow in these situations where the venue changes. Given the enormous line move in this game, with the total dropping several points from from 47.5 to 42, it could cause bettors to lose some big closing line value, but it could also force bettors to be on the total at a bad number. Check the latest NFL odds.

The total for this game has been re-posted at 48.5. The total had moved from 47.5 to 42 based on the forecast. Those that got in early at 47.5 or 47 aren’t that far off from the market now. Those that got lower numbers are going to be looking closely at the House Rules across the market.

Here’s what some popular sportsbooks say about venue changes and a potential day change (be sure to check the specific rules wherever you placed the bet).

Venue Change Played on Sunday

DraftKings

The Football House Rules state: If a game venue is changed, and the home team remains designated as such, bets will stand. If the venue is changed and the home and away team listings are reversed, bets will be voided (note: if Cleveland becomes the home team).

Bets stand regardless of venue, as long as the Bills are designated the home team. Season win totals, futures and other season-long props will also stand, unless the game isn’t played at all. For Same Game Parlays, all bets are void in the event of a venue change.

BetMGM

The Football House Rules state: Football games and any games/events not specifically listed must be held within one week of the originally scheduled date and location to be considered action unless otherwise noted in the specific sports rules section or the inventory game page within the mobile application or web browser application. Please see One Game Parlay Football Rules for One Game Parlay Postponed Match, Cancelled Match and Venue Change Rules.

In other words, a venue change should void your single-game wager at BetMGM. Futures and other season-long props still stand, unless the game isn’t played at all.

FanDuel

The Football House Rules state: In the event of a change of venue, all bets will be void.

This is different from the General House Rule, which states: All bets will be void only if the new venue is a home ground of the original away team.

Sport-specific rules overrule general house rules, so FanDuel should void wagers with the game venue is changed.

It is very important to check the House Rules when making weather bets. Not all are created equal and some can actually be detrimental to you and your wager. They can sometimes be hard to find and deliberately vague, so contact Chat Support for clarity and ALWAYS take screenshots of the conversation. Protect yourself because customer support agents don’t always know the procedures and you may get different answers in different chat sessions.

We’ll be following the game and these developments as the week goes along at VSiN.com and on air (LISTEN HERE).
