Wes Reynolds: NFL Week 14 Best Bets
Here are my NFL Week 14 best bets:
Indianapolis -125 ML at Jacksonville
It seemed to be a foregone conclusion in October that the Indianapolis Colts were going to win the AFC South. They started 7-1, but then the combination of injuries and a more difficult schedule led to the Colts losing three of their next four games.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville has won three games in a row, and the Jaguars are now tied with the Colts at 8-4.
So, you have two teams moving in proverbially opposite directions, plus Colts QB Daniel Jones is playing with a fractured fibula, and Indianapolis has not won in Jacksonville since 2014.
The wrong team is the favorite here, right? Hmmmmm.
Atlanta +7 vs. Seattle
Seattle continued its hot play last week with a 26-0 shutout victory over Minnesota, and the Seahawks have now won six of their last seven. On the other hand, Atlanta is in the midst of a disappointing 4-8 season and has had to turn back to Kirk Cousins at QB, and it has not been all that pretty with a 1-7 ATS mark in his last eight starts, including a loss at the New York Jets last week.
On paper, this does not look promising for the Falcons, but situationally, it will be tough for Seattle, considering this is the Seahawks’ third road game in four weeks. They also have back-to-back massive home games with the Colts next week and then a rematch with the Rams, who they outgained 414 to 249. However, Seattle could not overcome four interceptions from Sam Darnold and fell 21-19.
The Seahawks, 9-4-1 ATS on the road under second-year head coach Mike Macdonald, might be a bit road weary this week.
Las Vegas +7.5 vs. Denver
The Denver Broncos continue to play with fire yet find ways not to get burned. Last week, they escaped with an overtime win at Washington. Denver has trailed in all 12 games this season, and they are still winning at 10-2 SU, but just 5-7 ATS. One of those close non-covers was against the Raiders on November 6 as Denver won 10-7 but did not cover as 9.5-point favorites.
In Denver’s nine-game winning streak, seven of those victories have come by four points or less.
While one would not think that Denver would look past the Raiders, the Broncos have Green Bay, Jacksonville, Kansas City, and the LA Chargers to finish the season.
The Raiders have been putrid, but Denver is highly overvalued, and this is a big number on the road, even against a bad team on a six-game losing streak that is just trying to win any game.
Best of the Rest
Green Bay Packers -6.5 vs. Chicago Bears
Minnesota Vikings +1.5 vs. Washington Commanders
