Saturday Betting Recaps

Favorites and underdogs mostly split the sports betting action on Saturday with the Golden Knights beating the Panthers as short -116 road favorites (after opening as underdogs), while faves/dogs split 1-1 SU and ATS in the USFL and dogs held a slim 8-7 edge in the day’s MLB action.

 

Let’s get to the specific details with our daily betting recaps, and then update the spread and total records in each current major team sport (including the idle NBA that doesn’t resume with the Finals until Monday night in Denver).

NHL: Golden Knights held off the Panthers 3-2 on Saturday night to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals after closing as -116 road favorites (stayed Under betting total of 5.5 goals). Road/fave/Under went 1-0 on the night, and so did the “zig-zag” (aka “loser of the last”) as VGK lost the previous game.

More NHL: Faves lead 4-0 this round, but dogs still lead 43-40 in the playoffs with 4 games closing pick-’em. Home teams dipped to 3-1 this round, but road teams improved to 47-40. Over/Unders dipped to 2-2 this round and 43-43-1 overall. The “zig-zag” improved to 2-1 in this round and 41-31 overall.

MLB: Dogs went 8-7 Saturday with the biggest upsets by the Cubs (+155 in 4-0 win at Giants), A’s (+152 in 2-1, 10-inning win at Brewers) and Reds (+150 in 8-4 win at Cardinals). Road teams dominated 12-3. Unders led 9-6. On the season, faves lead 558-396 with 14 PKs. Home teams still lead 512-454 with 2 neutral-site games. Unders improved lead to 473-459-35 with 1 no-action.

USFL: New Orleans Breakers (2-point underdogs) upset Memphis Showboats in 31-3 rout (stayed Under betting total of 43.5 points). Earlier, the Pittsburgh Maulers (closed as 1-point favorites) beat the Michigan Panthers 19-7 (stayed Under 41). With the 1-1 SU and ATS split, dogs still lead 20-14 SU on the season and even better at 25-9 ATS (73.5%). Unders swept 2-0 to improve to 19-14-1 (57.6%).

NBA (ICYMI): With the Nuggets’ 108-95 win on Friday as 3-point road favorites in Game 4 to take a commanding 3-1 lead over the Heat in the NBA Finals, faves improved to 3-1 SU and ATS in the series and lead 54-28 SU and 44-37-1 ATS (54.3%) overall with 1 game closing pick-’em. Home teams still lead 49-34 SU and 44-38-1 ATS (53.7%). Unders lead 3-1 in the series and took overall lead at 41-40-2. The zig-zag dipped to 2-1 ATS in the series and 37-30-1 ATS (55.2%) overall.
