NHL Best Bets
If only Boston and Winnipeg could have scored one more goal, the Lazzy Lay would have hit last night. So disappointing, but I think I have found my new favorite bet in the NHL: Chicago Blackhawks Team Total under 1.5. It has hit in six of the last seven Chicago games. We have nine different NHL games tonight. I only have one game I like for tonight, but I feel very confident about two plays for my NHL best bets.Â
Ottawa at Montreal (+124, 6.5)
The Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens are set to meet for the second time this week. The Senators got the best of the Canadiens on January 18th, winning 6-2 in Ottawa. Tonight, the Canadiens seek revenge, but this team has been struggling to keep the puck out of their own net in their last two games, making this game a target for an NHL best bet.Â
In those two games, Montreal has allowed a combined 15 goals which is insane. Jake Allen is getting the start tonight for Montreal, his first nod in eight days. Allen currently skates to a 5-8-2 record with a .901 save percentage and a 3.49 goals-against average.Â
It would be easy to say that both teams could use better goaltending. But the Senators and Canadiens are both in the bottom 10 in the league when it comes to giving up high-danger chances at 5-on-5. Ottawa is allowing the eighth-most high-danger chances against per 60 minutes (11.93), and Montreal is allowing the sixth-most (12.33). They should exchange plenty of scoring chances tonight.Â
Since the new year, these teams have been two of the top-five worst teams in the league when it comes to goals against per game. Ottawa is currently allowing the most goals against in that span (4.20), and Montreal is allowing the fifth most (3.90).
Cole Caufield has five goals and 20 shots on goal in his last five games. He is a player that I will focus on in this game. His shot prop tonight is over 3.5, and he has hit that in three of his last five games.Â
This game should have a ton of goals, and I think Caufield will fire plenty of pucks on net.Â
NHL Best Bets: Over 6.5 -135 (play to -145) | Cole Caufield over 3.5 shots on goal -115 (play to -130)
