Alexander Ovechkin is one goal shy of 1,000 career goals (regular season and playoffs combined) when he hits the ice tonight at home against New Jersey. The Devils are going with Jake Allen between the pipes tonight, and Ovi has torched him for seven goals in the 11 games he has gone head-to-head against the Devils netminder.
Two other goal props that caught my eye for tonight are Jersey’s Dougie Hamilton and Nico Hischier. Hamilton has three goals in three games versus Caps starting goalie, Logan Thompson and Nico Hischier has four goals in six games against the Washington netminder.

The Panthers are coming off a 4-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers last night and have now blanked the Oilers, Stars and Golden Knights this season in three of their four shutouts of the opposition. Florida has lost two of their next three games after shutting out the opponent. After blanking the Oilers, whom they defeated in each of their Stanley Cup victories, I view tonight as the classic letdown spot. This game is a pick-em (-110), both sides scream out to me that the sportsbooks feel the same way.
Calgary has won seven of the last 10 meetings against the Panthers and has won by two goals or more in six of the victories. I like Calgary on the “reverse” puck line tonight and when I first checked the line, Calgary was (+230), and it has since dropped to (+200). I will also play the Flames team total Over 3.5. Florida has given up four goals or more in 25 of their 34 losses this season. Of note, the Flames have won 53 consecutive games when scoring four goals or more. Danill Tarsov gets the start for Florida tonight. Calgary’s Morgan Frost has two goals in three games against Tarasov. Yegor Sharangovich has five goals in 10 games against the Panthers.
A couple of Florida props, and they both center around their power play. Calgary has given up a power play goal in eight of their last 10 games, so give me Evan Rodrigues for a power play point (+725) as he is on the top power play unit.
