NHL Predictions and Best Bets:

Here are today’s NHL predictions and best bets.

Vancouver Canucks (8-9-1) at Carolina Hurricanes (11-5-0)

Betting Line: Carolina (-270, 6.5)

7 p.m. ET

The Canucks are kicking off a three-game road trip in Carolina that will see them play three games in four days. Carolina is coming off a home loss to Washington and has only lost back-to-back home games on the same homestand once in their last 10 times in this spot. Quinn Hughes has been dealing with some nagging injuries and did not practice on Thursday, but he was on the ice for today’s morning skate, so he looks good to go.

Vancouver has lost back-to-back games and three of their last four and have just one regulation win in their last 12 games.  Canucks games have been high volume, cashing the Over in seven straight and nine of ten. They have given up five goals in each of their last four defeats and four or more goals in seven of 10 losses this season. The Hurricanes have scored four or more goals in 10 of their 11 victories.

Looking at the player props. The Canucks, Jake DeBrusk and has two shots on goal or more in six consecutive games and nine of his last 10. Teammate Brock Boeser has two or more shots on goal in three straight, four of five and seven of the last 10 games. Instead of paying the heavy tax on both players individually, I will parlay their shot prop. Evander Kane has had three or more shots that have hit the target in five of his last six games and at least four shots on goal, four times that include eight shots on goal and 10 shots on goal during the stretch. The books are making you pay a heavy price for the Hurricanes props, so I am putting together a four-player prop parlay to extract some value.

NHL Predictions and Best Bets:

Vancouver Canucks/Carolina Hurricanes Over 6.5 (+104) – .50 units

Philadelphia Flyers (8-5-3) at St. Louis Blues (6-8-3)

Betting Line: St. Louis (-135, 5.5)

8 p.m. ET

The Blues are coming off a 3-2 win over Calgary their last time out, but they have not won back-to-back games since games two and three to start the season. St. Louis has also traded wins and losses in their past five games. The Flyers have dropped consecutive games and four of their last six. Three of their last four games have gone past regulation, including each of their past two games. Both teams are on the front end of a back-to-back.

Philadelphia is going with goalie Samuel Ersson, and it’s Jordan Binnington for the Blues. St. Louis has just three wins in 10 home games and are just 1-6 as a home favorite. The Blues have lost both games this season on the front end of a back-to-back and the Flyers are (0-1) in this spot. I will grab the plus money for a small play on the Flyers.

A couple of player props. The Flyers’ Matvei Michkov has goals in three straight, and all three goals have been the Flyers’ first goal of the game. Travis Konecny has points in eight straight and nine of the last 10 games and at least one assist in four straight, and five of the last 6. The Blues’ Dylan Holloway has cashed his shots on goal prop (Over 1.5) in back-to-back games, four of the last five and eight of the last 10 games. Holloway also points in consecutive games and scored the first goal of the game in two straight.
