NHL Predictions and Best Bets:

Here are tonight’s NHL predictions and best bets

Detroit Red Wings (41-30-9) at Tampa Bay Lightning (49-25-6)

Red Wings (+162) at Lightning (-196) – Total 6.5 (Under, -120)

7 p.m. ET

The Red Wings were eliminated from playoff contention over the weekend, while the Lightning, currently in third place in the Atlantic Division, have an opportunity to finish in first or second place and earn home ice advantage in the opening round. I don’t anticipate much of a fight from the Wings tonight and will play Tampa on both the Puck Line and their team total.

NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 goals (+136) – .50
Tampa Bay Lightning Team Total Over 3.5 (-115) – .50

San Jose Sharks (37-34-8) at Nashville Predators (38-32-10)

Sharks (+125) at Predators (-155) – Total 6.5 (-110)

8 p.m.ET

The Nashville Predators enter the final week of the season one point behind the Los Angeles Kings for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Nashville has one game remaining after tonight when they host the Anaheim Ducks. The Kings close out their season with games at Seattle (tonight), Vancouver and Calgary.

The Preds are in a great spot tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive as they enter tonight on a 15-game winning streak versus San Jose. Nashville will go with Justus Annunen between the pipes and not Juuse Saros. Annunen has given up just one goal in his past two starts with wins over Anaheim and Minnesota.

Nashville forwards Filip Forsberg and Steven Stamkos have feasted on the Sharks. Forsberg has goals in seven straight and eight of the last nine meetings against San Jose. Forsberg is also on a seven-game multi-point streak against Nashville. The Preds forward has scored not just the first Nashville goal of the game, but the first goal of the game in each of the last three games versus San Jose. Forsberg is also two goals shy of his third career 40-goal season. Steven Stamkos has goals in four consecutive games versus San Jose and goals in four of his last five home games.

I am also going to parlay Nashville to win tonight with the Vegas Golden Knights to win tonight over Winnipeg and Nashville on the Money Line with Colorado forward Martin Necas to record a point tonight in the Avalanche game at Edmonton. Necas is one point shy of his first 100-point season.

Nashville Predators/Vegas Golden Knights Money Line parlay (+153) – 1 unit
Nashville Predators Money Line/Necas (Avs) Over ½ point (+121) – .50

Buffalo Sabres (49-23-8) at Chicago Blackhawks (28-38-14)

Sabres (-200) at Blackhawks (+165) – Total 6.5 (Under, -115)

8:30 p.m. ET

The Sabres have won five straight and eight of the last nine meetings with Chicago. Buffalo leads both Montreal and Tampa for the top spot in the Atlantic Division and owns the tiebreaker over both teams. Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin has two goals and five points in his past five games and is one goal shy of his second 20-goal season of his career. Hawks forward Tyler Bertuzzi has three goals in six games against Buffalo’s starting goalie, Ukka-Pekka Luukkonen.
