NHL Predictions – Expert Picks on Monday, April 7:
Here are tonight’s NHL predictions:
St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets (-170, 5.5)
7:30 p.m. ET
The St. Louis Blues hope that 13 is their lucky number when they face off against the Jets in Winnipeg tonight. The Blues have reeled off 12 straight wins, their longest win streak since winning the Stanley Cup in 2019. This will be the fourth meeting between the Blues and Jets this season. Winnipeg earned victories in two of the three previous contests. The Jets have played their best against the NHL’s best this season, winning 25 of 33 games this season against teams with a winning record. Tonight will be the first time since Canada defeated USA in the 4 Nations Tournament that Jordan Binnington and Connor Hellebuyck will face off against each other.
The Blues’ Robert Thomas is riding an eight-game point streak (four goals, 15 assists) and has points in 12 of his last 13 games. Thomas has registered two points or more in six of his last seven games and all three games this season versus the Jets. Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor has 14 goals in 26 games against the Blues and eight goals in 11 games against the Blues’ projected starting goalie, Jordan Binnington. Winnipeg’s Cole Perfetti has five points (all assists) in the three meetings versus St. Louis this season.
NHL Predictions: Kyle Connor anytime goal +140 – ¼ unit
Robert Thomas Over 1.5 points +280 – ¼ unit
Cole Perfetti Over ½ assist +200 – ¼ unit
Jets ML (-170) – 1 unit
Seattle Kraken at Los Angeles Kings (-235, 5.5)
10:30 p.m. ET
The Los Angeles Kings enter tonight’s game versus the Seattle Kraken, winners of four straight. They have given up two goals or fewer in all four victories. The Kings have been the NHL’s stingiest team in the first period, giving up a league-low 42 goals and have gone seven straight games and 15 of the last 16 without giving up a goal in the opening 20 minutes.
Kevin Fiala has 14 assists in 12 career games against the Kraken. Red-hot Andrei Kuzmenko (three goals, four assists in the last four games) has eight points in seven career games versus the Kraken.
NHL Predictions: Kraken 1st period Under ½ goal (-116) – 1 unit
Kevin Fiala Over ½ assist +158 – ¼ unit
Andrei Kuzmenko Over ½ assist +190 – ¼ unit
Andrei Kuzmenko anytime goal +260 – ¼ unit
Calgary Flames (-195,6) at San Jose Sharks
10:30 p.m. ET
The Calgary Flames are coming off a tough 3-2 overtime loss at home to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. Calgary trails the Minnesota Wild by six points for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with six games remaining on their schedule. If Minnesota wins two of their final four games, the Flames will need to go 6-0 to close out the season. The Sharks are last overall in the standings. The Flames have won the two previous meetings against San Jose this season (3-2,3-1). Low-scoring games have been the story when Calgary faces teams within the Pacific Division, with 17 of the 21 games going Under the total. Combine that with Calgary’s record of 24-9-1 to the Under following a loss. As always, shop around for the best number. I see both 5.5 and 6 for the total depending on the sportsbook.
NHL Predictions: Under 6 (-115) – 1 unit
