NHL Predictions and Best Bets:

Here are today’s NHL predictions and best bets.

Seattle Kraken (7-3-4) at Dallas (8-4-3)

Betting Line: Dallas (-205, 6.5)

7 p.m. ET

Happy Seattle Kraken second half of a back-to-back day. For those who are frequent readers of the column, this spot has made us a huge profit. Dating back to last season, the Kraken lost 13 consecutive games in the second half of a back-to-back (0-1 this season, 4-1 to Washington). They have lost 12 of the 13 games by two or more goals, scored two or fewer in 12 of the 13, and given up four or more goals in nine of the 13 games. These numbers are grotesque if you are a fan of the Kraken. It doesn’t get any better when you examine their head-to-head record against the Dallas Stars, to whom they have lost seven straight (scored a goal or fewer in six of seven) and eight of the last 10 meetings. The Stars have covered the Puck Line in the last five meetings with Seattle and in seven of the nine wins. Casey DeSmith gets the start for Dallas, with Jake Oettinger playing yesterday against Nashville.  Matt Murray goes for the Kraken. DeSmith is 3-1 with a 1.01 goals against average and one shutout in his career versus Seattle.

NHL Predictions and Best Bets:

Carolina Hurricanes (10-4-0) at Toronto Maple Leafs (8-6-1)

Betting Line: Carolina (-130, 6.5)

7 p.m. ET

The Hurricanes and Maple Leafs are both on the second half of a back-to-back. For Carolina, it’s three games in four days. Here is a staggering trend from my teammate, Scott Seidenberg (@ScottsOnAir), since 2024, teams have just one win in the last 11 games when going to Toronto with no rest and have just five wins in the last 32 games. The full game Over has also been extremely profitable when it comes to Leafs games, going 13-2 for the season, including 10 straight.

One time, Maple Leafs goalie Freddie Anderson is expected to get the start for Carolina. It looks like Dennis Hildeby will go for Toronto, though it has not been confirmed. Leafs number one goalie Anthony Stolarz was pulled after giving up four goals last night and replaced by Hildeby in the loss to Boston. Auston Matthews has four goals in five games against Freddie Andersen and Morgan Rielly is riding a four-game assist streak (six total). There is also some great value on Nick Robertson and Matias Maccelli to score a goal. Robertson is up on the top line and power play, and Macelli has a goal in consecutive games. For Carolina, K’Andre Miller continues to cash his Over 1.5 shots on goal prop (six straight), and Andrei Svechnikov has 12 points in 15 games against Toronto.
