Odds as of April 23, 10 p.m. ET

St. Louis City SC vs. San Jose Earthquakes

8:30 p.m. ET

St. Louis City SC +135 | Draw +250 | San Jose Earthquakes +170
Over 2.5 Goals (-175) | Under 2.5 Goals (+135)

San Jose Earthquakes | 8-0-1 | 1st in Western Conference
St. Louis City SC | 1-3-4 | 14th in Western Conference

The San Jose Earthquakes are absolutely tearing through the MLS. Nine games into the season with just one loss and having conceded only four goals, it’s an impressive feat. The Quakes are coming off a dominant 5-1 victory over Austin, and before that they handled a talented LAFC club, defeating them 4-1 on the road. San Jose leads the league in expected goals (xG) with 26.14 and in on-target scoring attempts with 59 through nine matches. On the defensive side, they have been equally impressive; conceding only 25 shots all season is the third-best mark in the league. They lock you down and don’t give you much to work with.

St. Louis City SC, sitting on the opposite side of the Western Conference table, have a tough task ahead of them. St. Louis currently has the fourth-lowest xG in the MLS with 10.69 through eight matches played. They rank in the middle of the league in shots on target and accurate shooting percentage. The one storyline City has going for them entering this match is their 6-0-0 head-to-head record against San Jose in their last six meetings. These two clubs are, of course, different from the ones who came before; all streaks must end at some point.

The home club being +135 on the three-way moneyline indicates a weak home “favorite,” and I love finding spots like this to fade. San Jose won’t stay this hot forever, but the form they are in and the numbers backing them up are something I can’t ignore at this price.

Pick: San Jose Earthquakes ML (+170)
