Tennis best bets and predictions for Monday, July 28th:
This week, the ATP and WTA Tours are in Canada for the 2025 National Bank Open presented by Rogers. The men are stationed in Toronto for their Masters 1000 event, and the women are playing their 1000-level tournament in Montreal. Unfortunately, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka are a few of the big names that opted to rest up for Cincinnati. However, these fields are still rather loaded, so we’re looking forward to soaking in the action up north. Make sure you’re coming back to VSiN, where I’ll be posting daily write-ups on the action as often as I can. That starts with my best bets for Monday, July 28th below.
Make sure you also check out the picks page every couple of hours if you want more of my action. I occasionally post some extra picks there, including my picks for smaller tournaments and Challenger-level events. That’s also where you’ll find picks from Gill Alexander, who does great work handicapping tennis on A Numbers Game. You can watch Gill analyze tennis Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to noon ET. That said, if you like tennis, you might want to consider becoming a VSiN Pro.

NOTE: The official order of play for Monday hasn’t yet been released, so it’s possible some of these matches will be played on Tuesday.
Caty McNally vs. Alycia Parks
Elena Gabriela Ruse vs. Emma Raducanu
When looking through the oddsboard, the fact that McNally is a significant favorite stands out. I love spots in which a lower ranked player is favored over somebody with a better ranking, and McNally, who is ranked 123rd in the world, is nearly -300 to beat Parks, who is 58th. This is almost a situation that I’ll blindly back, but it’s hard to stomach the current moneyline price and I don’t want to lay 4.5 games against Parks, who can be somewhat tough to break if she’s hitting her spots. Of course, Parks hasn’t been hitting her spots lately. She has lost five of her last six matches and made less than half of her first serves in three of those six. But I still feel better about avoiding the game spread completely here, so I’m pairing McNally with Raducanu.
Raducanu is coming off a deep run at the Mubadala Citi DC Open, and I don’t normally like to back fatigued players early in new tournaments. But Raducanu is playing at such a high level that I’m willing to ignore it. She is serving incredibly well and striking the ball cleanly from the baseline. She’s also doing a much better job of constructing points. It feels like it’s only a matter of time before she’s back near the WTA’s Top 10, and I don’t see her losing to this opponent on this surface.
PARLAY: McNally ML & Raducanu ML (-128)
Yoshihito Nishioka vs. Ethan Quinn
Nishioka is a good player, but this has been an injury-riddled season — and the southpaw hasn’t looked great when healthy. He’s now 7-11 since the start of 2025, and his returning has been a problem. This year, Nishioka’s break percentage is just 14.9%. That’s a career-worst mark for a player that used to be quite good at returning. Nishioka’s serve isn’t good enough for him to be having those struggles either. His 77.1% hold percentage this year isn’t bad, but his entire career suggests he’s extremely breakable. Realistically, all of that should give Quinn a good shot at winning this match.
Quinn is simply going to have a big advantage when it comes to racking up easy holds, and he also has a little more firepower from the baseline. He’s a player with big-time weapons. Quinn should also be the more confident player here. While Nishioka has lost nine of his last 10 matches, Quinn is 10-5 in his last 15.
Bet: Quinn ML (-119)
Matteo Gigante vs. Borna Coric
I have always been a big fan of Coric’s game, and there was a point this year in which the Croatian looked to be finding himself at the Challenger level. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen Coric since he lost in qualifying at the French Open, meaning he hasn’t played in nearly two months. That alone makes him a player worth fading. Gigante also continues to win matches. Since the start of May, the Italian has won 10 of them. And overall, it’s hard not to like a confident, in-form player against somebody without a lot of matches under his belt.
Coric also opened as a -156 favorite in this match, but there appears to be some sharp money backing Gigante. That’s something to monitor with our VSiN tennis splits page.
I’ll specifically be keeping an eye on Coric’s serve here. He’s going to need some free points and easy holds in order to beat a younger, more athletic opponent. But after so much time off, can he be trusted to be sharp as a server?
Bet: Gigante ML (+110)
