2025 Record: 834-818-1 (+28.06 units)

Marin Cilic vs. Jaume Munar

These odds feel like a bit of an overreaction to what we saw last round. Cilic obviously looked tremendous in his 6-4, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Jack Draper, but having the 36-year-old set as a big favorite over Munar doesn’t sit right. Munar has been equally impressive throughout the course of this event, earning a 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2 win over a red-hot Alexander Bublik and then following it up with a straight-set win over Fabian Marozsan.

Munar is just a better overall player than Cilic at this stage. He’s also much fitter. That has to count for something. On top of that, facing Bublik and Marozsan, two big servers, should have Munar ready for what Cilic has to throw at him.

Munar has also done a lot of work on his body in recent years, packing on pretty significant muscle to add strength for quicker conditions. Well, that has paid off in a big way. The 2025 season has been the best of Munar’s career when looking at winning percentage (50.0%), he has a career-high hold percentage (81.7%) and he looks more powerful off the ground. That said, he’s not just a clay-court threat anymore. He’s a tough out on all surfaces. And I think his ability to grind and solve problems will get to an older Cilic here.

Bet: Munar ML (+140)

Clara Tauson vs. Elena Rybakina

Rybakina is a former Wimbledon champion with a massive serve and the fifth-highest grass-court Elo rating (1842.2) of anybody on the WTA Tour. I fully understand that she’s a huge threat to win this tournament, and she should be a favorite over Tauson. However, I’m very surprised that Tauson is available at plus-money odds to win a set. These odds suggest there’s a 53.27% chance Rybakina will win this match in straight sets, and I just can’t accept that.

Tauson, like Rybakina, is a big server with a big baseline game. While Rybakina is first on the WTA Tour in hold percentage (79.5%) in 2025, Tauson is ninth (74.5%) in that regard. The Dane is very difficult to break when she’s hitting her spots, and she also has the ability to overwhelm opponents with her raw power from the back of the court.

This just feels like a match in which both players will have a lot of success with the ball on their racquets, meaning we could see a tiebreaker at some point. Well, that makes it pretty hard not to like Tauson to steal a set at plus-money odds. Anything can happen late in sets, when scoreboard pressure can get to either player. Also, while Rybakina is a great tiebreaker player, Tauson is dangerous in that setting, too. Rybakina is 10-5 in tiebreakers since the start of 2025, but Tauson is 9-7. So, this is a shot worth taking.

Bet: Tauson +1.5 Sets (+114)

Hailey Baptiste vs. Mirra Andreeva

When I saw the women’s draw, I quickly jumped to Andreeva’s quarter. I knew that I’d be looking to fade her at some point, and this was the match that really stood out to me. Baptiste isn’t a household name yet, but she’s going to be one in due time. The American has big-time power with the ball on her racquet, she’s aggressive from the back of the court and she also showcases some serious variety. She can slice shots rather well, and she’s capable of hitting some nice dropshots. Once she puts that all together, she’ll be a mainstay in the WTA’s Top 15. And she’s getting pretty close, with this being a career year so far.

Baptiste should be able to make Andreeva uncomfortable on this surface. The 18-year-old is capable of winning anywhere, but she can be sped up on grass. Also, her defense isn’t quite as valuable. Well, Baptiste, with her power, can absolutely rush Andreeva in this one. And if she somehow gets under the Russian’s skin, Andreeva could get bounced here. She has had a lot of trouble managing her emotions on the court lately.

I just love Baptiste’s chances of winning at least one set, which is why I’m going somewhat big on the set spread. However, I’m also grabbing some +252. I like the American’s chances of winning outright.

Bet: Baptiste +1.5 Sets (-106 – 1.5 units) & Baptiste ML (+252 – 0.5 units)
