Aaron Judge, the best hitter in baseball, is out for at least 10 days with a flexor strain his right elbow.
The team was relieved that Judge didn’t need surgery on his UCL. When he does return, he will move to DH. He was leading the MLB in batting average (.342).
The AL MVP odds fluctuated on Saturday with Cal Raleigh becoming the favorite at one point. FanDuel settled down with Judge at -125 and Raleigh at +100. The Yankees’ to make the playoffs numbers: Yes -750; No +490 (which was +720 just a few days ago).
Makinen’s NASCAR picks
Steve Makinen has run his final simulation for today’s Brickyard 400 and shared his analysis:
Saturday’s practice and qualifying sessions have bumped a couple of Hendrick Motorsports drivers up to the top of the final projections for the Brickyard 400. William Byron edges Kyle Larson for the top spot, but they figure to be challenged by Chase Briscoe and Tyler Reddick, with one of the closest 1-4 finish projections I can recall from the simulation. Ty Gibbs rounds out the top 5, and interestingly, he has a major cushion projected over 32nd Ty Dillon, as those two battle for the championship of the in-season tournament and the $1 million prize that comes with it.
The Brickyard has a handicap-ability grade of D due to past races that were marred by tire issues, crashes, and fuel strategy finishes.
Here are my projections for Sunday:
Top 5: Larson, Byron, Hamlin, Briscoe, Keselowski
Top underdogs to consider: Wallace, Nemechek, Keselowski, Hocevar, Jones, Allmendinger
Favorites to struggle: Bowman, Logano, Busch, Chastain
Adam Burke previews the race.

The Dave Ross travelogue
Dave Ross is on the road to Kentucky.
As we announced last week, Dave is going to do VSiN By The Book (7-10 a.m. ET) from the new studio in the new Circa sportsbook at The Mint Kentucky Downs.
Dave left Las Vegas right after Friday’s show and is making the most of his travels. He sent me photos from The Big Texan in Amarillo, where he took on the 72-ounce Free Steak Challenge. (It’s free if you finish in 60 minutes.)
