Two of the bigger college football games today also happened to be the most played in Circa Friday Football Invitational, so let’s see what the contestants did with them:

BYU at Texas Tech (noon ET, ABC))

  • Edwin Meyer/Carl Sack: Texas Tech (-10)
  • Steve Fezzik: Texas Tech (-10)
  • Alex White: Texas Tech (-10)
  • Chuck Edel: Texas Tech (-10)
  • Chris Macero: Texas Tech (-10)
  • Scott Pritchard: UNDER (52.5)

For an opposing view, here is what VSiN.com senior editor Zach Cohen has to say:

BYU has a big rest advantage coming into this one, as the Cougars are coming off a bye week. Meanwhile, the Red Raiders had to go to Manhattan and face the Wildcats in a game that was a little tougher than the 43-20 final score suggests. Extra rest and preparation is always big in conference games.

I’m just not expecting the beatdown that this line implies we’re about to see. And honestly, I can see the Cougars finding a way to win. This has looked like a special group all year.

Oregon at Iowa (3:30 ET, CBS)

  • Chris Piper: Iowa (+6.5)
  • Chris Macero: Iowa (+6.5)
  • Frank Carulli: Oregon (-6.5)
  • Chris Macero: UNDER (42)
  • Chuck Edel: UNDER (42)
  • Chris Piper: UNDER (42)

VSiN.com senior reporter Dave Tuley weighs in on this one:

Oregon is chasing #1 Ohio State and #2 Indiana in the Big Ten standings, but I see the Ducks as overrated and not as good as we’ve seen in recent years, despite their 7-1 record. They’ve beaten up on a lot of weak opponents (per usual) and their biggest win was over Penn State in double overtime, and we’ve all seen that wasn’t as impressive as it seemed at the time.

In addition, the Ducks’ sloppy 21-7 home win vs. Wisconsin last week confirmed to me that they shouldn’t be favored by this much over an improving Iowa team, which has won three straight since losing just 20-15 to Indiana. If the Hawkeyes held Indiana to 15 (and Wisconsin held Oregon to 21), Iowa’s defense has the chance to keep this low-scoring and get the cover.
