Super Bowl Best Bets

Brent Musburger’s first Super Bowl bet? A mattress!?

The Pro Football Hall of Fame broacaster and VSiN co-founder bought a new mattress from Jim McIngvale — better known as Mattress Mack — as part of Mack’s now-famous Super Bowl promotion at his furniture stores.

Mack has $2 million on the Patriots (at +200) with Caesars, and any customer who bought at least $4,000 in furniture gets a refund if New England wins.

Brent’s handicap:

➡️ Patriots win → free mattress

➡️ Patriots lose → still a great mattress

As Brent put it on Money Moves with Stormy Buonantony and Jonathan Von Tobel: “I can’t lose.”

Once the mattress was delivered and tested (“it’s awesome”), Brent turned to his actual wagers.

Brent expects a lower-scoring Super Bowl than recent years, citing:

➡️ Two strong defenses

➡️ No true hurry-up offenses

➡️ Both teams comfortable running clock and playing field position

His view: recent Super Bowls have been track meets. This one won’t be.

👉 So put Brent down for Under 45.5.

Brent’s favorite prop bet?

👉 Sam Darnold to throw an interception (Yes, -132)

His reasoning:

➡️ Darnold has gone three straight games without a pick — “overdue,” in Brent’s words

➡️ Patriots pressure comes up the middle, not just off the edge

➡️ Seattle’s center and right guard are the weak links of the offensive line

➡️ Interior pressure has always been Darnold’s biggest problem

One sure bet: No matter how the game plays out, we know Brent will sleep well.

What you should do an hour before kickoff

Las Vegas pro bettor Steve Fezzik shared his “Eight of Clubs” method for betting the Super Bowl in another entertaining and enlightening segment with Gill Alexander on A Numbers Game.

His theory:

➡️ Super Bowl markets are public-driven, not sharp-driven

➡️ The majority of money comes in during the final 48 hours, especially the last hour

➡️ Popular props inflate as everyone piles in on the same “good stories”

With that in mind, bettors should track prop numbers early, then:

  1. Recheck them one hour before kickoff
  2. Identify inflated lines
  3. Fade the move and bet the other side at the best available number
