The Circa Friday Football Invitational will return for the fourth season, bigger and better.

Contest proprietor Matt Youmans has posted the rules for the college and pro football pick’em competition with two changes from last year:

  • The contest is expanding from 18 weeks to 20 to include more NFL and college playoff games.
  • The prize money has increased from $25,000 to $30,000 and the top five finishers will be paid instead of only the top three. The prize money is put up by Circa owner Derek Stevens.

Like last year, there will be 25 handicappers in the invitation-only competition, although seven already are in the field because of automatic qualifiers.

Past champions: Las Vegas pro bettor Chuck Edel, Florida pro handicapper Jeff Petch and Fox Sports analyst Chris Fallica.

Top 5 finishers: Las Vegas handicapper Alex White, San Diego pro bettor Chris Macero and Nashville handicapper Weston Stradtman.

Last year’s Average Joe Contest winner: Drew Bridges, a retired lawyer from Boise.

Matt will announce the rest of the field between now and when the Week 1 picks are revealed on Sept. 5.

Next week, we will announce rules for the Average Joe Contest, which is free and open to everyone.
