Nothing like a night without football to remind you that we are coming to the end of the gridiron line. Seven more NFL playoff games. One more college football game.
And speaking of the end of the line, Mike Tomlin has hit his in Pittsburgh. Add the Steelers to the list of coaching openings, which now stands at nine (the most since 2022). You have to believe the quick turnarounds by Ben Johnson, Mike Vrabel and Liam Coen have made owners a bit more impatient.
But let’s focus on the games ahead.
There has been a lot of motivational chatter out of Denver about the top-seeded Broncos being an underdog to the Bills in Saturday’s first game.
That chip on the Broncos’ shoulders is getting lighter by the day as DraftKings has flipped to Denver as a 1.5-point favorite after the Bills opened -1.5. Circa is still at a pick’em and FanDuel is at Buffalo -1.5. We’ll see what happens as the limits go up later in the week.
One possible reason for the shift: The Bills announced Tuesday that WR Tyrell Shavers has a torn ACL, a day after reporting that Gabe Davis is out with the same injury. That leaves Buffalo with three healthy receivers: One was benched four times this season (Keon Coleman), one joined the team six weeks ago (Brandin Cooks) and Khalil Shakir.
VSiN.com senior editor Zach Cohen already has posted his preview and plays for Bills-Broncos:
The Bills have one of the worst receiver rooms in the league, but Allen’s ability to extend plays means defensive backs have to guard longer than usual. These Broncos corners can do that. Denver is also a top-10 defensive team in the league when looking at Rush EPA per play allowed (-0.105), so the Broncos should be ready to keep James Cook III from breaking off long runs. They’re just going to have to be ready to defend Allen when the big quarterback decides to use his legs.
Everything we do on the divisional games will be here.
In the swing of things
We’ll have to wait a week for Scottie Scheffler’s season debut and two weeks for Brooks Koepka’s return from LIV Golf, but the PGA Tour tees off Thursday in Hawaii.
VSiN golf analyst Wes Reynolds handicaps the Sony Open and offers his Best Bets. I always like to see what Wes has as his longest shot. This week, it is Max McGreevy at 90-1 (DraftKings):
McGreevy has missed the cut in all three of his appearances. He was a three-time winner in 2024 with two Korn Ferry victories and at the Dunlop Phoenix on the Japan Golf Tour. However, he went winless in 2025 but ended the calendar year with a third and a second, losing by one stroke to Sami Valimaki in the season finale at the RSM Classic.
Later today, the Long Shots podcast crew will post a Sony Open preview.
