Makinen’s NASCAR predictions

Steve Makinen has posted his final simulation for today’s stop in Texas.

After another fantastic simulation run at Talladega last weekend, we move on to Texas, which theoretically is a little more predictable historically, getting a handicap-ability grade of C+. Kyle Larson maintains his top spot on the projections after a strong run of practice and qualifying. He is the only one with a projected driver rating in the 100’s and the only one with an average finish under 6.5 on the simulation runs. Larson’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron checks in #2, followed by a new name to the front runners, Carson Hocevar, who had a huge Saturday at the track and will start on the pole. Tyler Reddick and last week’s winner, Austin Cindric, round out the top 5.

Here are my predictions for today at Texas:

Top 5: Larson, Byron, Cindric, Blaney, Hocevar

Top Underdogs to consider: Hocevar, Cindric, Gibbs, McDowell, Berry, Gragson

Favorites to struggle: Bell, Elliott, Logano, Busch

>Adam Burke‘s race preview.
