Three days into the second round of the NBA playoffs, what do we know?
- Steph Curry is hurt.
- A second-half lead of 20 points isn’t what it used to be.
- Road teams, all underdogs, are 5-0.
- The top-seeded Cavs are in trouble.
Curry was injured in the second quarter, but the Warriors (+6) forged ahead without him to beat the Timberwolves 99-88 in their series opener. Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Curry is day-to-day with a strained left hamstring and will have an MRI today.
The Cavs, without injured starters Evan Mobley and Darius Garland and reserve De’Andre Hunter, led the Pacers by 20 in the third quarter and by 7 with 40 seconds left. But they couldn’t hold as Tyrese Halburton got his own rebound after a missed free throw and hit a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left to give Indiana (+5.5) a 120-119 victory and a 2-0 series lead. The Pacers are now -196 favorites to advance vs. the Cavs (+165).
