I visited Omaha a few weeks ago to scout out our location for our special broadcasts from the College World Series.

We’ll be doing shows next week from Rocco’s, famous for its Jell-O Shot Challenge, when the field is narrowed to eight from 64.

I asked Rocco’s owner and our gracious host, Kevin Culjat: Which teams bring the most fans  and which ones maybe not so much?

LSU, the pre-tournament favorite at +450, was No. 1 on Kevin’s list. He mentioned that Vanderbilt, this year’s No. 1 seed, was on the “not so much” list.

We figured the least we could do to help the Commodores’ cause is to bring former Vanderbilt pitcher and current VSiN By The Books host Jensen Lewis to Omaha.

Alas, Vandy was eliminated by Wright State on Sunday, one of many upsets in the four-team, double-elimination regionals.

“Awful way to have their season end,” Jensen said.

No. 2 Texas, No. 7 Georgia, No. 11 Clemson and No. 12 Oregon were also eliminated in regional play this weekend.

LSU is on the endangered list, needing a victory tonight against Little Rock to remain alive and to advance to the super regionals. Little Rock, 100-1 to win the regional, beat the Tigers 10-4 late Sunday.

That is one of six win-or-go-home games. >>Betting Splits.

Alternate options for NBA Finals

Aren’t enticed by the lopsided win odds (Thunder -700/Pacers +500) in the NBA Finals, but still need some action?

VSiN NBA prop analyst Dan Karpuc has some ideas for you:

The betting market expects this series to be one-sided, but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking value. Prop bettors can thrive by targeting volume-based overs on bench contributors and fading Indiana’s starters early in the series. As the series shifts to Indiana, there may be more reason to back Pacers starters, but early on, staying sharp with these angles will be key. In what may be a short Finals, the long-tail value could lie in the box score’s middle and bottom rows, not the headlines.

What do Rockies & Scheffler have in common?

Fun Fact making the rounds on X: Since May 3, Scottie Scheffler and the Colorado Rockies have the same number of victories — 3. Scheffler did it in four tournaments, including the Memorial on Sunday. The Rockies needed 28 games.

Colorado is back in action tonight vs. the Marlins. Miami -1.5 (+113) on the run line is one of Greg Peterson‘s top plays for today.

Josh Appelbaum and Steve Makinen will post their Best Bet contributions later this morning.
