Are we headed for the gold medal matchup everyone has circled since the Olympic men’s tournament began — USA vs. Canada?
We’ll get our answer today.
VSiN hockey analyst Jonathan Davis breaks down the semifinal doubleheader — Canada (-400) vs. Finland (+325) at 10:40 a.m. ET and USA (-1000) vs. Slovakia (+325) at 3:10 p.m.
The biggest storyline surrounds Sidney Crosby, who left Canada’s quarterfinal with a lower-body injury.
The big question mark for Canada is whether Sidney Crosby will be available. He suffered a vague lower-body injury in the quarterfinals.
If Crosby can’t go, then look for Nick Suzuki, who scored the tying goal for Canada to force overtime, to slot between Mitch Marner and Mark Stone. Sam Bennett, who did not play against the Czechs on Wednesday (sick), is expected to return to the lineup. His in-your-face style of play is just what Canada needs against a Finnish team that will look to play physically against a far more skilled Canadian team.
On the U.S. side, Jonathan is attacking the prop market rather than laying the heavy moneyline. He’s targeting shot volume in what could be a wide-open matchup, plus a sprinkle on several Slovakian goal scorers to capitalize on plus-money value.
