I didn’t expect to spend my Sunday watching the Mexico Open.
But I did because one of Wes Reynolds’ longshots, Aldrich Potgieter, was in the hunt at 70-1. I figure when Wes wins, VSiN subscribers win. And I imagine many are tailing Wes these days after he has picked three longshot winners already this season.
Alas, this would be “one of the worst golf beats you’ll see,” according to Matt Youmans.
Potgieter and Brian Campbell were tied after 72 holes. On the second playoff hole, Campbell’s tee shot was headed into a forest of trees yet somehow bounced back into play. Campbell birdied the hole to win for the first time in a 10-year career.
And, yes, Wes did hedge.
