It’s a wrap for CFP: Indiana won the national championship, beating Miami 27-21 to complete an undefeated season. The Hoosiers, however, didn’t cover the closing -7.5. And, despite a 10-point first half, the Total went Over the closing 47/47.5. Ohio State and Notre Dame are co-favorites to win the 2027 championship at +650, per FanDuel, to be held in Las Vegas.
Makinen’s NBA Betting Systems based on DraftKings splits
With three football games left over the next few weeks, perhaps you are considering a different sport on which to bet a bob or two.
Steve Makinen has updated his analysis of the VSiN betting splits for the NBA and has a winning system.
And that is this: When you see what most of the bettors are wagering on — based on the DraftKings splits page — bet against them.
Here are the results through 633 games this season (but they sync with his analysis of three years of data):
– Majority handle on point spreads: 291-335 ATS (46.5%), -77.5 units – ROI: -12.4%
– Majority number of bets on point spreads: 287-323 ATS (47%), -68.3 units – ROI: -11.2%
– Majority handle on money lines: 379-247 (60.5%). -123.2 units – ROI: -20.2%
– Majority number of bets on money lines: 404-227 (64%). -113.7 units – ROI: -18%
– Majority handle on totals: 306-310 (49.7%). -35 units – ROI: -5.7%
– Majority number of bets on totals: 307-318 (49.1%), -42.8 units – ROI: -6.8%
Now, you may not be inclined to bet on every NBA game, so Steve narrows down to 14 systems where the majority of bettors actually do well or where they are particularly bad.
Here is one example from Steve:
DK NBA Betting Splits system #11: One of the best, simplest, and most frequent angles I have been able to uncover is when a majority of the handle (money wagered) was backing the Under. When the majority has favored the Under option over the last 3+ seasons, the results have been strong, with Under the total on these games going 484-393, good for 55.2%, +51.7 units, and an ROI of +5.9% since January 2023.

NFL hiring & firing
The NFL coaching carousel filled two seats — and opened up another.
The Bills fired Sean McDermott, who posted 98-50 record but was 8-8 in the playoffs. Meantime, the Titans are finalizing a deal with 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Dolphins hired Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
>The Seahawks, 2.5-point favorites vs. the Rams in the NFC Championship, will be without a key player the rest of the way. RB Zach Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL
