WNBA Best Bets:

Thanks to a hot shooting first half last night, we, unfortunately, did not cash our Liberty Under bet, but we are back for more tonight with a couple more playoff games on the docket. Alyssa Thomas and the Sun take on Caitlin Clark and the Fever, while Napheesa Collier and Minnesota will look to send Kahleah Copper and Phoenix home.

Here are tonight’s WNBA projections from the T Shoe Index:

Connecticut Sun vs. Indiana Fever

Connecticut wiped the floor with Indiana on Sunday and had Caitlin Clark well-contained, holding her to just 11 points on 17 shots. I said when this matchup was set that this is bad news for Indiana, who doesn’t play a particularly physical brand of basketball; conversely, Brionna Jones, Dijonai Carrington, and the rest of the stifling Sun defense aren’t afraid to mix it up physically. The Sun are 6-point favorites with an Over/Under of 163.5, and TSI projects Sun -8.5 with a total of 166. In three matchups taking place in Connecticut this season, the Sun have won by an average of 20.5 points per game, with an average total of 162. I just don’t think Indiana has enough mental and physical toughness yet, being such a young but talented team, and I think this is a good learning experience for their future playoff runs, but I think it ends emphatically tonight.

WNBA Best Bet: Connecticut Sun -6 (Play to -8)

Minnesota Lynx vs. Phoenix Mercury

Minnesota dominated the first half on Sunday before letting Phoenix hang around in the second half to make it interesting. However, we easily cashed an Over ticket as both teams lit up the nets, going over by almost 40 points. Tonight, Minnesota is a 9-point favorite with an Over/Under of 161, and TSI projects Minnesota -12 with a total of 165.5. In the three previous games at Minnesota, the Lynx have won by an average of 14.5 points per game with an average combined total of 165.5, and have gone over 160 total points in four out of five matchups.

WNBA Best Bet: Over 160 (Play to 162)
