WNBA Picks
It’s almost unfathomable how unpredictable the WNBA has been this season. Almost every respected WNBA bettor I know has been struggling this season, and I felt like that was certainly exemplified by yesterday’s slate, where the pathetic Connecticut Sun beat the Golden State Valkyries by 30 points and the Atlanta Dream won on the road at Minnesota after Minnesota had been in Death Star mode recently. I don’t know if it’s just truly league parity or if the increased number of games and key injuries have just thrown everything out of whack, but I feel like everything I know to be true about betting has been thrown out the window this season. Nonetheless, we will keep swinging. There are two games on tap for tonight, so here are the TSI projections for those:
Connecticut Sun vs. Seattle Storm (-12), O/U 156.5
As I mentioned in the opening, Connecticut inexplicably obliterated the Valkyries last night, so they’re playing on a back-to-back. Seattle could really use a win after struggling lately despite a hot start to the season. This game is very ugly from a betting perspective because not only are the Sun on a back-to-back, but Seattle is just 7-12 ATS as a favorite this season. TSI projects Seattle -12 with a total of 159, but given the schedule spot for Connecticut, I don’t really feel comfortable with an Over, not to mention Seattle is 8-2 to the Under in their last 10. I’m going to pass here.
WNBA Pick: Pass
Dallas Wings vs New York Liberty (-8), O/U 170.5
Speaking of injury madness and unpredictability, Dallas rested Paige Bueckers last game, while New York has just recently gotten Jonquel Jones back into the lineup just in time for Breanna Stewart to suffer a leg injury. Lots of moving pieces in this game, but TSI projects Liberty -8.5 with a total of 173. The total has risen four points, but I still like the Over here, especially since New York gives up about eight more points per game on the road than they do at home.
WNBA Pick: Over 170.5 (play to 171.5)
