WNBA Picks
I feel like I’ve been hitting splits lately like Roy Munson after winning the Iowa state bowling championship in 1979 – that’s a Kingpin reference for those unfamiliar. Another 1-1 night in the W, as another really good read on a spread cashed and another total came within two points of cashing for the sweep. We’ve got two more games on deck tonight as the regular season reaches the final 10 days before the playoffs. LA will visit Atlanta tonight while Chicago hosts Connecticut, so here are the TSI projections for Wednesday night:
Atlanta Dream (-7) vs. LA Sparks, O/U 169
Allisha Gray is questionable for Atlanta tonight, while Rickea Jackson is probable for the Sparks. LA has come alive over the last few games, winning two straight and covering on the road at Seattle in the last game. Atlanta has won and covered in four out of five heading into tonight, and won the only previous meeting by six points. TSI projects Atlanta -6.5 with a total of 171, and it’s noteworthy that LA has gone Over the total in 13 of 19 road games this season. I’m going to pass on the spread and take the Over, as I still think this number will climb, and the last five games formula indicates a total of 173.5.
WNBA Pick: Over 170 or better
Chicago Sky (-1.5) vs. Connecticut Sun, O/U 162.5
Chicago laying points is a sight to behold, even if it is against Connecticut. Although the Sun have been much better lately, winning two of their last five—which is good for them—and covered in three of those. Chicago has dropped four straight but covered in four out of five games. Connecticut has won two of the three previous matchups this season, with an average score of 77-74. TSI projects Sun -2 with a total of 159, and both my market estimation formula and last five games formula indicate Sun +1.5 is the play.
WNBA Pick: Connecticut Sun pick ‘em or better
