Brickyard 400
The final race of the NASCAR In-Season Challenge is the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as we get one of the signature events of the year. It is also hard to believe that there are only five races left in the regular season, as this is the 22nd race of 26 before the Cup Series Chase.
In terms of the In-Season Challenge, the bracket-style format has a head-to-head matchup between Ryan Blaney and Todd Gilliand. Blaney was the No. 3 seed in the bracket, while Gilliland was the No. 25 seed out of 32 drivers who were in the field. Gilliland has certainly gotten more fortunate than Blaney to get there, but, to his credit, he did finish eighth last week to beat Chase Elliott. Gilliland has two Brickyard starts and two top-10 finishes.

2026 NASCAR Cup Series Winners and Standings
Last week was one of the best and most exciting races of the season at North Wilkesboro Speedway. It was the first points race on the track since 1996. It was a packed house and a rowdy crowd and the race really lived up to the billing. It also gave us a new winner, as Joey Logano took his first checkered flag of the season.
The race winners are Reddick (5), Hamlin (4), Elliott (2), van Gisbergen (2), Ryan Blaney (2), Ty Gibbs, Daniel Suarez, Carson Hocevar, Corey Heim, Chase Briscoe, and Logano. The win couldn’t have come at a better time for Logano given the increased points for winning and the fact that the top 16 drivers in points make the postseason. Having a win isn’t a separating factor anymore. Logano is now 15th after that victory.
Hamlin was second last week to extend his points lead over Reddick to 68 points. Hamlin has 842 points and Reddick has 774. After that, the top five is Blaney, Gibbs, and Elliott. The top 10 is Larson, Hocevar, Briscoe, Chase Buescher, and Christopher Bell.
Brickyard 400 Winners
The tragic passing of Kyle Busch is still looming over the Cup Series circuit. He’s the only driver to accumulate points this season with more than one win on this track over the last 10 races. Bubba Wallace, Brad Keselowski, and Larson are the three active race winners. Wallace actually has three top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes in five starts.
Hamlin hasn’t won, but has five top-five finishes in the last 10 races. Logano has four top-five finishes and seven top-10 finishes. There are some guys who have had really good showings here, but haven’t been able to win.
Keep in mind that the 2021-23 races were on the road course.
