2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament

The 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament begins on Sunday March 2 and games will be held at campus sites. The higher-seeded team will be at home with 10 of the 12 teams qualifying for the postseason tournament. With travel involved, this tournament takes place over seven days, with the automatic bid decided on Sunday March 9 with a 2 p.m. ET tip-off.

No. 6 seed Queens is ineligible for the NCAA Tournament as a transitioning member to Division I, so if they win the tournament, then No. 1 Lipscomb will automatically get the berth as the regular season champion. That does not impact the tournament odds, as Queens can still win the tournament, just can’t reap the benefits.

Favorite To Win Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament

Lipscomb is the only top-100 team for KenPom and Bart Torvik in this conference and therefore the deserving favorite, along with securing home court by virtue of tiebreakers over North Alabama. The Bisons beat Florida Gulf Coast and the Lions did not, so that’s why the conference shook out the way that it did.

Lipscomb and North Alabama split head-to-head, with the home team winning both games by double digits. In terms of conference-only metrics, Lipscomb was second in adjusted offensive efficiency and third in adjusted defensive efficiency, while North Alabama was No. 1 in offense and No. 2 in defense. But, there is a major caveat, in that North Alabama’s offensive efficiency metrics are heavily influenced by their low 12.1% TO%. They are actually seventh and ninth in 2P% and 3P%, respectively. Lipscomb, meanwhile, is first in 2P% and second in 3P%, so the shooting numbers are very different.

Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Darkhorse

Queens can still technically win this tournament, but the Royals just wouldn’t make it to the NCAA Tournament. They also have a tough Quarterfinal matchup against Florida Gulf Coast, but they’ve beaten both Lipscomb and North Alabama, along with a split against FGCU in two very different games, winning 92-83 at home and losing 60-47 on the road.

At 10/1, FGCU is kind of interesting, but they did lose twice to Eastern Kentucky, lost by 14 to Lipscomb, and trailed with 49 seconds left in the win over North Alabama. I think they have a tough path with Queens in the Quarters and North Alabama in the Semis before even getting to Lipscomb. A moneyline rollover is likely to pay a good bit better than 12/1, if the Eagles can emerge victorious.

Ultimately, the darkhorse with the most legs might be Eastern Kentucky at 25/1. The Colonels beat Lipscomb twice during the regular season, accounting for two of the Bisons’ four losses in league play. However, the Colonels also lost both games to Quarterfinal opponent Jacksonville, so they may not even get a third crack.

Players to Watch in Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament

After missing all of last season, Jacob Ognacevic has put a stamp on his Lipscomb career with 20.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. He leads the conference in points and is third in rebounds behind North Alabama’s Cornelious Williams and Taye Fields. Jacari Lane is the leading scorer for the Lions with 16.9 points per game and the only one in the top 22 of the conference, as the rest of the roster has a more balanced scoring approach.

Eastern Kentucky is well-represented with top scorers thanks to George Kimble III (18 PPG) and Devonate Blanton (16.5 PPG). Blanton (4.7) is also third in assists per game, trailing North Florida’s Jaylen Smith (5.8) and Central Arkansas’ Brayden Fagbemi (4.8). Speaking of the Ospreys, it is interesting that UNF’s only player in the top 15 in points is Jasai Miles (15.4), given that the team shoots a 3-pointer on nearly 54% of their shot attempts and leads the conference by a large margin in adjusted tempo.

Betting Pick to Win The Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament

This should be Lipscomb’s tournament to lose. Lipscomb opened -6.5 and closed -7.5 at most shops at home against North Alabama on Feb. 20, ranging anywhere from -340 to -425 on the moneyline. So, the -165 price seems pretty reasonable for a home team that should be favored by greater than that in the championship game. North Florida is not a “gimme” game for North Alabama if that’s the Quarterfinal matchup because of the Ospreys’ high-variance style of shooting a million 3s. Then the winner of Florida Gulf Coast and Queens strikes me as a tougher Semifinal game as well.

With that in mind, Lipscomb is the pick and likely the best value on the board.

Pick: Lipscomb -165
