6:30 PM Eastern
UW Milwaukee Panthers vs. IU Indy Jaguars
UW Milwaukee has dealt with significant injuries, with top scorer Seth Hubbard out for the season and leading rebounders Danilo Jovanovic and Fazion Fields both sidelined for the past four-plus weeks. Even so, the Panthers won the first meeting at home 95–83. This matchup should feature plenty of scoring chances with IU Indy ranking ninth in possessions per game but just 351st in points per possession allowed, as the Jaguars gamble for turnovers (24th in turnovers per possession) while paying for it defensively, ranking 353rd in opponent two-point shooting percentage and 355th in opponent three-point shooting percentage. UW Milwaukee has also struggled defensively, ranking 320th in points per possession allowed and 347th in opponent three-point shooting percentage away from home.
Pick: UW Milwaukee vs. IU Indy Over 162.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 166)
7:00 PM Eastern
Rhode Island Rams vs. George Washington Revolutionaries
Rhode Island has struggled on the perimeter, ranking 295th in three-point shooting percentage at 31.4%, while defensively they are 348th in opponent three-point shooting percentage away from home at 38.9%. George Washington may have issues breaking down a Rhode Island defense that ranks 15th nationally in turnovers per possession generated, but the Revolutionaries also excel at creating turnovers, ranking 67th in turnovers per possession at home. Rhode Island compounds its issues by ranking 303rd in turnovers per possession on offense.
Picks: George Washington -4.5 and Under 149.5 (Greg’s Handicap George Washington -9.5 and Total 145.5)
Fordham Rams vs. St. Joseph’s Hawks
While St. Joseph’s ranks 336th in three-point shooting percentage at 30% and 250th in points per possession overall, the offense has looked better in Atlantic 10 play, averaging 72.7 points per game and ranking second in conference games in two-point shooting percentage. Their three-point shooting has also improved to 33.4% in league play. Fordham ranks 231st in points per possession overall while playing at a very slow tempo, ranking 353rd in possessions per game, but improves to 155th in points per possession away from home and is 13th in offensive rebound percentage away from home, grabbing 35.3% of its missed shots.
Pick: Fordham vs. St. Joseph’s Over 130.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 137.5)
Purdue Boilermakers vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers
Nebraska forces teams to beat them from beyond the arc, with 49.5% of opponent field goal attempts coming from three-point range, the fifth-highest rate in the country. Offensively at home, Nebraska also leans heavily on the three, taking 52% of its shots from deep, sixth-highest nationally. Purdue has been excellent on the perimeter away from home, ranking 29th in opponent three-point shooting percentage at 30.3% while shooting 39.7% from three themselves, 12th in the country. This is magnified by Nebraska’s lack of second-chance scoring, ranking 288th in offensive rebound percentage.
Pick: Purdue +2.5 (Greg’s Handicap Purdue -1.5)
8:30 PM Eastern
Eastern Illinois Panthers vs. Western Illinois Leathernecks
Neither team has been efficient offensively, with Eastern Illinois ranking 356th and Western Illinois 353rd in points per possession. Neither side pushes tempo either, as Western Illinois ranks 282nd and Eastern Illinois 271st in possessions per game. Eastern Illinois has been turnover-prone on offense, ranking 340th in turnovers per possession away from home, but compensates defensively by ranking 23rd in turnovers per possession generated away from home.
Pick: Eastern Illinois vs. Western Illinois Under 133.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 127.5)
9:00 PM Eastern
Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Arizona State Sun Devils
Oklahoma State wants to run, ranking eighth in the nation in possessions per game, while Arizona State also plays fast at 71st. Arizona State has struggled defensively, ranking 249th in points per possession allowed, and the offense has fallen off sharply at home, ranking 261st in points per possession at home compared to 51st away from home.
Picks: Oklahoma State +2.5 and Over 163.5 (Greg’s Handicap Oklahoma State -1 and Total 169)
Houston Cougars vs. Utah Utes
Utah’s defense has been a major issue, ranking 299th in points per possession allowed and 331st in turnovers per possession generated. The Utes should find some offense against a Houston defense that is elite overall, ranking sixth nationally in points per possession allowed, but far less dominant away from home, allowing 20.8 more points per 100 possessions. Houston has also allowed second chances, ranking 152nd in defensive rebound percentage, with opponents grabbing 28% of their missed shots.
Picks: Utah +16.5 and Over 142.5 (Greg’s Handicap Utah +13.5 and Total 147.5)
Duke Blue Devils vs. Pittsburgh Panthers
Duke has been strong inside, ranking fourth in two-point shooting percentage on offense and 18th in opponent two-point shooting percentage. Pittsburgh will try to slow the game down, ranking 338th in total possessions per game, and shoots much better at home, hitting 34.9% of its three-point attempts compared to 30.3% away. The Panthers also generate second chances, ranking 68th in offensive rebound percentage, while Duke is just 180th in three-point shooting percentage at 33.9%.
Pick: Pittsburgh +16.5 (Greg’s Handicap Pittsburgh +12.5)
Iowa State Cyclones vs. TCU Horned Frogs
Iowa State’s offense is as explosive as it has been under T.J. Otzelberger, ranking third nationally in points per possession and fourth in three-point shooting percentage at 40.7%. Still, both teams are built on defense and turnovers. Iowa State ranks eighth in points per possession allowed and sixth in turnovers per possession generated, while TCU ranks 48th in points per possession allowed and 49th in turnovers per possession. The Horned Frogs’ offense has been pedestrian, ranking 147th in points per possession.
Picks: Iowa State -6.5 and Under 148.5 (Greg’s Handicap Iowa State -8.5 and Total 143.5)
Colorado State Rams vs. Air Force Falcons
It has been a turbulent season for Air Force, with coach Joe Scott under indefinite suspension. In the six games since, Air Force has lost every game by at least 15 points, including an 81–52 loss to Colorado State on January 20. Air Force ranks 328th in points per possession allowed and 363rd in points per possession offensively, while Colorado State ranks 59th in offensive points per possession and 11th in three-point shooting percentage at 38.8%. Air Force also struggles defending the perimeter, ranking 323rd in opponent three-point shooting percentage.
Pick: Colorado State -14.5 (Greg’s Handicap Colorado State -18.5)
11:00 PM Eastern
San Jose State Spartans vs. UNLV Runnin’ Rebels
This sets up as a tempo clash, with UNLV ranking 42nd in possessions per game and San Jose State 333rd. Both defenses have struggled, as San Jose State ranks 342nd and UNLV 246th in points per possession allowed. Neither offense has been impressive either, with UNLV ranking 176th in points per possession and 239th in turnovers per possession, while San Jose State ranks 269th. Injuries have devastated San Jose State, with nine of its top 11 scorers missing at least four games, though top scorer Colby Garland and starting wing Adrian Myers are expected to be available barring late news.
Picks: San Jose State +12.5 and Under 153.5 (Greg’s Handicap San Jose State +9 and Total 149)
