Burke: Last-minute CFB Saturday weather updates

185

It’s been a really busy week with the Thanksgiving holiday and all of the sports that have been on the betting board. Maybe there are some things that you haven’t considered for Saturday. I know that I’ve been playing catch up a little bit over the last couple of days. Having a handle on everything isn’t exactly realistic and that’s especially true at this time of the year.

One thing I’ve noticed for Saturday is that wind will be a factor in several games across the country. Wind isn’t the sole reason to make a play on a side or total, but it is something that you want to factor into the equation, especially at this time of the year.

Here are a few games with windy conditions:

Texas Tech at Baylor – rainy and windy (gusts up to 20 mph); total has fallen from 52.5 to 51

Navy at Temple – sunny, but gusts up to 30 mph; total has fallen from 43.5 to 42.5 – obviously less likely to affect Navy (-13)

Houston at UConn – sunny, but gusts up to 30 mph; total has fallen from 58 to 54.5

Wake Forest at Boston College – sunny, but gusts up to 30 mph; total has fallen from 65 to 64 – would think this affects both teams; decent under play?

Maryland at Rutgers – sunny, but gusts up to 30 mph; total has actually gone up from 52 to 53 – think this affects Maryland a lot more

UTSA at North Texas – rainy and windy (gusts up to 25 mph); total has gone up from 59.5 to 60 – lean under in this one (UNT runs the ball a lot)

We won’t have a lot of college football games with bad weather moving forward, as most conference championship games are in domes or warm-weather locales, but make sure you handicap the weather conditions for the NFL the rest of the way and also keep these in mind for future seasons. You can get some good line value paying early attention to the forecast or even grab some late value bets on game day.
