7:30 p.m. ET: Rutgers at Boston College (-3.5, 54)
Rutgers (0-1) just got embarrassed by Massachusetts in Week 1, losing 37-21 as 29.5-point home favorites. Meanwhile, Boston College (0-1) just fell to Cincinnati 34-15, failing to cover as 7.5-point road dogs.
This line opened with Boston College listed as a 3.5-point home favorite.
The public is leaning toward laying the points with Boston College at home, especially after watching Rutgers lose straight up against lowly UMass in their last game.
However, despite receiving 56% of spread bets at DraftKings we’ve seen Boston College fall from -3.5 to -3.
This signals sharp reverse line movement on the Scarlet Knights, as the line has moved in their favor (+3.5 to +3) despite being the unpopular play.
At DraftKings, Rutgers is receiving 44% of spread bets but a hefty 70% of spread dollars, a notable “low bets, higher dollars” sharp contrarian split in their favor.
We’ve also seen respected action play Rutgers to win the game straight up (+135), as the Scarlet Knights are taking in only 42% of moneyline bets but 66% of moneyline dollars at DraftKings.
Friday night road dogs, like Rutgers here, have gone 43-29 ATS (60%) with a 14% ROI since 2024.
Rutgers offers “bet against the public” value as the Scarlet Knights are receiving less than half the tickets in a heavily bet, primetime game on ESPN2.
The Scarlet Knights also enjoy a 2-day rest advantage, as Rutgers last played on September 3rd while Boston College last played on September 5th.
Sharps have also hit the under, dropping the total from as high as 55.5 to 53.5.
At DraftKings, the under is receiving 46% of bets but 61% of dollars, a wiseguy discrepancy in favor of a lower scoring game.
8 p.m. ET: Missouri (-4.5, 51.5) at Kansas
Missouri (1-0, ranked 23rd) just dominated Arkansas Pine Bluff 54-14 but failed to cover as 55.5-point home favorites. On the other hand, Kansas (1-0) just destroyed Long Island 51-6, covering as 44.5-point home favorites.
This line opened with Missouri listed as high as a 7-point road favorite.
The public isn’t scared off by the chalk and 58% of spread bets at DraftKings are laying the points with Missouri on the road.
However, despite receiving a majority of tickets we’ve seen Missouri fall from -7 to -4.5.
Why would oddsmakers drop the line to make it easier for the public to cover if they’re already siding with Missouri to begin with? Because sharp action has come down in favor of Kansas, triggering sharp reverse line movement on the home dog.
The movement toward Kansas has been steady and consistent all week, with the Jayhawks continuing to fall from +5.5 to +4.5 on gameday.
At DraftKings, Kansas is taking in 42% of spread bets but 61% of spread dollars. At Circa, the Jayhawks are receiving 51% of spread bets but 68% of spread dollars. Both books are showing a sharp “low bets, higher dollars” discrepancy on Kansas plus the points.
Kansas offers buy-low value as an unranked home dog against a sell-high ranked opponent.
The Jayhawks are also the top contrarian play of the day, as Kansas is receiving less than half the tickets at DraftKings in the most heavily bet game, nationally televised game of the night on FOX.
Sharps have also played the under, dropping the total from 53.5 to 51.5.
At DraftKings, the under is receiving only 27% of bets but 63% of dollars. At Circa, the under is taking in only 29% of bets but 47% of dollars. Both books are showing a notable “low bets, higher dollars” sharp contrarian split in favor of a lower scoring game.
Friday night unders have gone 68-52 (57%) with a 9% ROI since 2024.
