How sportsbooks are treating Jon Rahm’s withdrawal

There have been plenty of instances of COVID-19 affecting the sports world, but Saturday saw one of the most surprising, when Jon Rahm was forced to withdraw after his third round at The Memorial Tournament due to a positive test.

Rahm was the resounding favorite at the end of his third round after shooting an 8-under round to finish at -18. He had a six-shot lead at the time he finished his round. According to The Action Network, Rahm’s in-play odds to win the tournament heading to the 18th tee were -1200 at BetMGM sportsbooks.

Many sportsbooks are paying out Rahm outright bets as if he won the tournament, but as with all exceptional situations like this be sure to check the house rules at the sportsbook you placed the bet at.

DraftKings will be paying out all tournament bets involving Rahm as winners, including finishing position markets and tournament matchups.

PointsBet will be paying out pre-tourney outright bets on Rahm as winners. Rahm closed with 12-1 odds at PointsBet.

William Hill announced that tournament bets on Rahm would count as winners, including a $3,000 wager from a Vegas bettor on Rahm to win the tournament at 12-1.

Per a William Hill release, "Mobile bettors will see the payout in accounts within 48 hours. Those wagering in person can cash tickets starting on Monday, June 7 at a William Hill Sportsbook."

FanDuel termed it a “bad beat payout” and is paying out all straight bets on Rahm as winners in site credit in the next 24 hours, including outright, top continental European player, Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, Top 30, Top 40 and a Rahm vs. Bryson DeChambeau matchup.

BetMGM will be paying out pre-tournament and in-play bets on Rahm as winners, as well as Top 5, Top 10 and Top 20 Rahm tickets as cash in the next 48 hours.

Rahm tickets will be a loser at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, as the house rules state that a ticket is action once a golfer starts the round. The Rahm wager was also a loser at Circa Sports in Las Vegas.
