LIV Golf Greenbrier:
Three weeks ago, Jon Rahm finally won his first LIV event in Staffordshire, England. The following week, he held a four-stroke lead on the back nine at the Olympic Games in Paris, only to fall apart and finish out of the medals altogether. Rahm (+550) is back in the favorite role this week for the LIV Golf Greenbrier event held at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.Â
Bryson DeChambeau (+750) is the defending champion at the Greenbrier, having shot 58 in the final round, which tied the lowest-ever round shot in a major tour golf tournament.Â
In 2019, Joaquin Niemann (8/1) won his first professional golf event here at the Greenbrier when it still hosted PGA TOUR events.
Tyrrell Hatton (9/1) has finished in the Top 3 in each of his last three LIV events including a victory at Nashville back in June.
Cameron Smith (16/1) was part of a three-way tie for second with Hatton and Niemann behind Rahm at LIV UK three weeks ago.
At 20/1 are Louis Oosthuizen, Sergio Garcia, and Talor Gooch.
Kevin Na (66/1) and Danny Lee (150/1) won at The Greenbrier on the PGA TOUR back in 2018 and 2015, respectively.
The Course
The Old White Course at the Greenbrier is in White Sulphur Springs, WV. It was designed by legendary architect Charles Blair Macdonald and opened for play in 1914. Macdonald’s associate Seth Raynor returned in the 1920s to oversee updates to the course.
The layout will play as a Par 70 of 7,289 yards.
Bentgrass is the surface used throughout the course, including the greens (6,700 sq ft average), which will run at a 12 on the stimpmeter for average speed.
Both Par 5’s on the Par 70 are on the back nine.
There are 77 bunkers in all and eight water danger holes.
