Mr. Ed’s Churchill Downs Picks for Friday (11/06)
Race 4 (2:27 p.m. ET/11:27 a.m. PT)
Three worth a wager: 1-THE GRUMPY RABBIT (7-5 morning line) for trainer Kenny McPeek gets Lasix and takes big class drop as she returns from a year away. She should benefit from the innermost post. 4-MY STEEL MAGNOLIA (4-1) stretches back out to a mile for solid trainer Tom Drury, who names veteran jock Brian Hernandez, Jr. to ride. Her speed ratings rise as she drops in class. To round out action, trainer J.K. Sweezey hires Tyler Gaffalione to ride 6-JUST SINGING (5-2), adds Lasix and removes blinkers. Drop from graded stakes company puts her in the Win mix.
MR. ED’S SELECTION: $5 Exacta Box of 1,4,6. ($30)
Race 7 (3:55 p.m. ET/12:55 p.m. PT)
Apprentice jockey Yomar Ortiz, Jr. (don’t overlook this kid) key to choice of 3-DOROTEO (2-1 morning line) for trainer Joe Sharp. Huge class drop,10 lbs. weight allowance and removal of blinkers add to his appeal. Make Note: Mr. Ed has been paying special attention to the young rider as he hones his riding skills. Kid has what it takes to compete at top oval, as Sharp assignment attests.
MR. ED’S SELECTION: $10 to Win & Place. ($20)

If top pick falters,1-NEAT (6-1), with Junior Alvarado returning to saddle, as he seeks to grow million-dollar bank account. Mike Maker trains. Also take a shot on the Pittsburgh kid 6–YINZER (5-2) for the Asmussen team of trainer Steve and jockey Keith.
