🏈 Let’s Get an Early Start on Saturday

If you haven’t started working on your Saturday college football card, now’s the time.

Adam Burke, Steve Makinen, Zachary Cohen and Dave Tuley have been digging into the matchups. Here’s a kickoff-order guide to the biggest games.

No. 7 Texas at No. 18 Missouri — Texas -3 | Noon ET | ESPN. A ranked SEC showdown to open the day. Makinen’s Effective Play-by-Play projection is close to the market number, making matchup analysis especially important.

No. 8 UCLA at Minnesota — Minnesota +5 | Noon ET | FOX. UCLA is unbeaten, but Tuley questions the strength of the Bruins’ schedule. Minnesota has been competitive in tough spots, including an overtime loss at Indiana.

No. 9 BYU at No. 3 Utah — Utah -4.5 | Noon ET | ABC. BYU has won three straight in the rivalry. Tuley points to the Cougars’ defense, which allows just 4.4 yards per play, while Makinen’s play-by-play ratings suggest a closer game than the spread.

No. 23 Oregon at No. 12 Ohio State — Ohio State -7.5 | 3:30 p.m. ET | CBS. Makinen’s Effective Play-by-Play Ratings project a substantially bigger Buckeyes margin, although another of his rating methods paints a different picture. Which model better captures this matchup?

No. 5 Alabama at No. 14 LSU — LSU -6 | 3:30 p.m. ET | ABC. The Tigers are favored by six, but Makinen’s play-by-play projection makes it nearly even — an intriguing gap in a major SEC matchup.

No. 6 Kentucky at No. 13 Tennessee — Tennessee -6.5 | 6:15 p.m. ET | ESPN. The biggest model-market disagreement in our featured games: Makinen’s play-by-play projection makes Kentucky a 3.9-point favorite, more than 10 points away from Circa’s line.

No. 2 Georgia at No. 10 Ole Miss — Georgia -3.5 | 7:30 p.m. ET | ABC. Makinen’s play-by-play ratings project a larger Georgia margin than the current number.

No. 1 Miami at No. 11 Notre Dame — Notre Dame -7.5 | 7:30 p.m. ET | NBC. Miami will be without Malachi Toney, but Tuley questions how much Notre Dame’s unbeaten record tells us about its strength.

🏈 Jaguars Back Up the Market Move

Jacksonville beat Baltimore 33-10 on Thursday night, easily covering the closing 9.5-point spread. The 43 combined points also sent the game Over the closing total of 40.

The Jaguars had attracted a dramatic move in the betting market as Baltimore’s quarterback situation deteriorated.

Vikings QB switch: Carson Wentz replaces injured Kyler Murray (hamstring) for Minnesota against Buffalo. The Circa line moved toward the Vikings, from +3.5 to +3.

🏀 68 College Basketball Games. Where’s the Value?

The season is just getting started, but Friday brings a 68-game slate — plenty of numbers to sort through.

The Angle starts 1-1 ATS. Luke DiVasta’s handicapping feature opened with a winner as New Hampshire (+1.5) beat Rider 66-55. His second selection lost, leaving the system 1-1 against the spread after its first two plays.

The Angle looks for underdogs supported by multiple independent projection systems. Luke will post his Angle picks in the VSiN Community whenever a game qualifies. There is no guarantee of a selection every day.
