Saturday Betting Recaps

Saturday was a pretty full sports betting day – including tons of summer horse racing, highlighted by the first Saturday at Saratoga – with tennis, golf, soccer, NBA Summer League, UFC, etc.

But for our purposes here, we stick with MLB as we had an extra full 17-game card with two doubleheaders as the Rays and Phillies swept the Royals and Padres, respectively. Favorites went 10-7 on the day, but they didn’t dominate as much as Friday when they went 10-3 (but still lead 20-10 since coming back from the All-Star Break).
Let’s get to our regularly scheduled nightly betting recaps, then update the season-long betting totals.

MLB: Faves went 10-7 Saturday with the biggest upsets by the White Sox (+260 in 6-5 win at Braves), Tigers (+180 in 6-0 win at Mariners), Phillies (+140 in 6-4 Game 1 home win vs. Padres; they they flipped to -118 in 9-4 Game 2 win to complete doubleheader sweep) and Angels (+135 in 13-12, 10-inning win vs. Astros). Road teams went 9-8; Unders led 9-8.

More MLB: On the season, faves improved to 791-563 with 22 games closing pick-’em. Home teams still lead 709-663 with 4 neutral-site games as road teams continue to cut into home teams’ lead. Unders improved their slim lead to 664-652-59 with 1 no-action.
